@nelson@infosec.exchange #TIL you don't have to slavishly create a .gitignore for every project, and you don't have to broadcast personal files you are ignoring. I've used #git for years, and this is a revelation... https://nelson.cloud/.gitignore-isnt-the-only-way-to-ignore-files-in-git/ Thank you Nelson, whoever you are!

.gitignore Isn’t the Only Way To Ignore Files in Git

You can ignore files in .gitignore, .git/info/exclude, and ~/.config/git/ignore

They are all just variants of C which compile to object code. Understanding what a microprocessor (ain't that a quaint old word?) actually does with object code is the important step.

@michaelharley@infosec.exchange Your observation about there being lots of posts at the moment about this is on-point, unfortunately while your site is looking good I'm still finding it 50/50 whether a site in general will work. Unfortunately most of the WordPress- and Ghost-based sites don't seem to like my webmentions, and I'm not happy about subscribing in order to leave a comment. How are you finding the reliability of other sites?

@lawfare@mastodon.social The US should send a couple of its floating nuclear plants to police the floating nuclear plants and stop the proliferation. Or better still, destroy its floating nuclear plants. Postscript: the above was admittedly a stupid, throw-away remark, and the attached article is actually nuanced and well written. Though it basically adds up to the same thing.
