After the protest we spent about an hour talking about the midterms and local resistance issues. We're all certain we'll win the midterms, although we have no idea what kind of buck wild shit Trump might try to do. It doesn't matter. We are prepared to defend the results, and so are millions of others. We may do a lot of silly stuff to make people laugh, but we are dead serious about democracy.

There are lots of wild rabbits where I live. Once when a friend of mine came to stay for a time while relocating, we were walking around the complex with a bag of baby carrots, tossing them near the rabbits. It was kind of like a game of horseshoes: you want to get the carrot close enough to the rabbit that the rabbit sees it, but you don't want to bean the rabbit.
Ridiculous though this was, the rabbits seemed to enjoy the carrots as much as we enjoyed the game.

There's a sweet Vietnam veteran who just moved up from a nearby city who's now a regular at our bridge protests. He brought a boatload of pins and stickers. I added two new pins to my taco costume, which is covered in them already. They're all gifts from other protestors. I also took a pin for my neighbor:

I did see resisters posting that they got tickets to this event just to reduce attendance, a standard bit of mischief from Trump rallies past. It's probably not necessary any more, but I appreciate their spirit.
Lots of resisters were protesting outside the venue, too.

The legend is that there are supernatural spookies that can mimic voices of people we know, call us by name, or pretend to be a hiker in distress. This is hilarious, but deadly serious at the same time. There are chapters of Cat Ladies for America all over the US. There are romance novel fans phone banking together. People who love crafting are having protest art parties. People who love beer are having planning meetings at progressive breweries. This kind of stuff is at least as dangerous to the regime as anarchists in black bloc throwing tear gas containers back at police.
