Random thought: People always say "Don't use optical media for archives, it won't last and degrades!" - and I say: pah! Humbug! What is true however: No matter what format you chose, chances are very high that you won't find a working drive to read it after a few years. I'm facing the issue of my BD-writer failing and there seems to be no new drives out there already. Go look for "internal BD Writer"... it's pathetic.

A few words on the € 💸 update... Back when the Euro was introduced, the question of the design of course was discussed in public quite a bit. I vividly remember people asking "why not have people on them like usual"? And the reply was IMHO a reasanable "we want to show the union of Europe and avoid depicting people, who natrually, can be seen as a national symbol of their country and took bridges as a way to symbolize the coming together..." and now they are back to mugshots on money? ... and the survey doesn't even list the prime options like "It shouldn't depict people" or "too colorful" just weird generic "doesn't make me feel european enough" x.x

Es ging um zwei eher lästige Probleme die ich immer mal wieder in KiCAD habe, wenn ich meinen Workflow folge; und weil die leider zu sichtbaren Hoppalas geführt haben, habe ich sie in meinem letzten Video angesprochen. Punkt 1 war die Idee, dass man statt "not in schematic" und "delete items not in schematic" ggf. doch den DRC mit einer "Symbol not in schematic" Rule ausstatten könnte und damit verlorene und übriggebliebene Komponenten minimieren könnte, ohne jeweils das andere Ergebnis zu haben. Punkt 2 war die Idee, statt jedem IC auch die (99.9%) notwendigen Power-Pins im Schaltplan zu geben und sichtbar zu haben, diese doch zu verstecken und über eine Tabellenansicht mit dem jeweiligen Netz zu verbinden. Also ein paar Mausklicks für ein paar dutzend ICs auf einmal und viel weniger Platz im Schaltplan für "obvious" Verbindungen. Vielleicht überseh' ich ja nur etwas aber gefunden hätte ich weder das eine, noch das andere...

It *is* cheaper and more cost effective to treat people like furniture (why else would it be called "human resources") - as long as "the finance sector" is basically "regulating itself", there's no real hope IMHO. The baseline idea that a corporation is *primarily* responsibel to their shareholders is insane; It should be: customer, emplyoees, shareholders, CEO. in descending order of responsibility... And that translates to "provided service", "salery and benefits", "return of investment" and "bonus" accordingly. But since they have defined it backwards, the customers and employees will always end up as a mere "who cares" footnote in the annual reports. And AI is a perfect tool for that. It doesn't care for neither to begin with and you can claim monetary benefit from stuff that nobody understands and that therefore also doesn't even need to be real. It's the money making machine for a few big players, nothing more.

@gmh@mastodon.social while I can see that reasoning... shouldn't that be some parental control stuff rather than regular settings? Possibly linked via the online accounts and not even accessible via the device? "This setting is managed by your administrator...err...guardian" or somesuch? Quite confusing I think; and I'm also not 100% sure if that self-assessment should hold up in court... but that's just me.
