@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange Comp Sci is very distinct from IT! I always called the IT guy to fix things, even as a senior developer! I figured they're like the mechanic, and I'm the driver.
(Except for that job where we all had to run Gentoo Linux. Then we all had to be the whole thing!!)

@holgi@chaos.social My ex-peruvian friend recommends contacting the German embassy to see if any German schools need teachers or if they maintain lists of translators that people might employ.
And sends these links for schools that teach in German:

Good luck to your friend!

@johnzajac@dice.camp @tshirtman@mas.to @croissant@zeroes.ca Exactly. One only has to look at the infrastructure installed in e.g. WHO headquarters or virus security around meetings like DAVOS to know that the lies are only being fed to those who need to keep the capitalist machinery turning.

@aram@aoir.social @CerstinMahlow@mastodon.acm.org @AkaSci@fosstodon.org Maybe if we did it with more care and transparency the first time, or had continued public messaging about masking in enclosed public spaces as a form of community care, we would not need to fear another lockdown.
I still cannot wrap my head around the wasted opportunities the global pause gave up.

Like trees that put all the salt into selected sacrificial leaves that turn yellow and drop. Or the feisty fiddler crabs, who can be left- or right-handed, clawed???
So cool.

@JubalBarca@scholar.social Off the top of my head I know 3 friends who were sexually abused as children.
One by a (church) babysitter.
One by their uncle.
One by their grandfather.
We HAVE to acknowledge it. We have to give kids ways to contact adults outside their immediate families.

That would have made SUCH a difference for my child who started later than average.
