Lazy cross post.

Yesterday I passed my GIAC GCIL, today involved a trip to the German Consulate in Amsterdam. Wandered past some of the Pride setup and the Rijksmuseum, then a late lunch with a refreshing margarita.

Pics on BSky.

At @BSidesLuxembourg@infosec.exchange

As per other events I am masked.

I am full of a cold, I tested for Covid, RSV, Adeno, flu and strep, before departing, and all clear, but wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Workshop today with @snyff@infosec.exchange (@snyff.pentesterlab.com on bsky) was great, and he has generously provided stickers for @stickerstalluk.github.io (bsky) which we (me + @ministraitor@infosec.exchange will bring to @bsidesleeds@infosec.exchange

I also got a copy of his book.

@raymaccarthy @Lilith Most small companies, especially 1 person Ltd, use their accountant's address as their registered co address, so it can be normally for dozens, or 100s, of companies to be registered at a single address. Companies House is broken in other ways; there isn't a single identifier for one person, so the same person can appear multiple times, and no connection between those "separate" users (really one person) and multiple companies. Individual's home addresses can be exposed.

@merill@infosec.exchange Since passkeys came up the other day, you might find the discussion @filippo@abyssdomain.expert kicked off over on BSky interesting https://bsky.app/profile/filippo.abyssdomain.expert/post/3mkvf3fw7mk2m

@tinker@infosec.exchange Ohhhh. Thank you for the explainer on Persona - I saw a job ad from them earlier today, and it read like it would not be a culture fit, but this helps clarify why it read the way it did.

@0xabad1dea I find it odd that Good Friday isn't really a holiday here, when it is in the UK and other European countries. Though the UK don't get Ascension or Whitsun. My pet peeve is if the public holiday (Xmas 1 & 2, NYD, Kings Day) falls on a weekend, there is no carry over to the next working day (which happens in the UK and elsewhere). Whitsun to Xmas seems like a long time!

@raymaccarthy @Lilith It is listed/suggested/recommended as an option to use a service provider such as an accountant or solicitor. https://www.gov.uk/limited-company-formation/company-address https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/formation-and-company-secretarial-agents/company-formation-agents-and-secretarial-agents Naturally service providers suggest that a company uses their servides instead on accountant. https://www.1stformations.co.uk/blog/use-accountant-registered-office/ I preferred using my accountant, as someone who has a authoritative/registered body and code of ethics, such as ICAEW; for folks using solicitors, it is similar under the SRA.

Replying to
@raymaccarthy @Lilith Well it isn't, and there are requirements for a registered address which I linked to. When you have promotional material, inc stationary and letters, there are certain requirements to fulfil, this should cover leaflets. https://www.gov.uk/running-a-limited-company/signs-stationery-and-promotional-material However this is about Ltd, and not sole traders.

Replying to
@raymaccarthy @Lilith I am not arguing for "misleading addresses". It can be your home, but people who are company directors also have a right to privacy. Companies House know the residential address, it's just not public. Do Companies House need to overhaul their processes, likely supported with legislative changes - yes - especially around ID&V. We won't fix it on social media, and your responses sound increasingly angry and argumentative when I explain the current legislation.

Replying to
@tommorris@mastodon.social Given that https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ seems to manage keeping the historical info it would be nice if that was across the board. This is where I got ticked off over the dual-national passport debacle, it seemed like policy set by webpage, rather than supported by legislative change, and to be aware of the change you had to reach the "correct" page. (other pages were worded so poorly they caused confusion)
