Agile software development with models, functions, graphs & flow. Not tech used to be @wootube@mastodonapp.uk. I was banned and my appeal ignored.

@confusedMiddleAgedDad@mastodon.social @kibcol1049@mstdn.social I've wondered how many old 'swords in walking sticks' were bought for path-clearance rather than defence.

@vfrmedia@social.tchncs.de @confusedMiddleAgedDad@mastodon.social @kibcol1049@mstdn.social I have only ever known one person who was stabbed, in a country lane by a complete stranger, walking to a birthday party in the 1970s. We didn't have mobile phones then so he turned up at the party with blood on his shirt.

@lankohr@mastodon.social @kibcol1049@mstdn.social It's just maths. As the radius of your circle of knowledge increases, the border with everything you don't know increases 2π times more. You have only become more ignorant *relatively*. :-)

@mcspocky@mstdn.party That's why I regularly turn off Android backup and remove photos from my phone. I deleted the Facebook app too but caught the web page trying to reinstall it and deleted it again. I'd really like a phone the techbroze don't think they own.

I enjoy thinking so I haven't tried an LLM yet but I'm retired now so I'm not under pressure to work 'faster but worser' any more. I did experience the early part of that trend and I didn't like it.

@ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us They may be successful in the way that Margaret Thatcher was when she pushed Labour to the right, under Tony Blair. What a pity the LibDems didn't find a role for Zack Polanski, pushing them a little Left. That's where a progressive party needs to be to stay elected. The media of the Far Right clearly understand that.

@mikemcquaid@mastodon.social Hmm... Fix 'taking without paying' by 'taking without paying'? I guess that might (occasionally) work out fairly but mostly it feels like a revenge attack on corporate greed and more likely to lead to FOSS being banned if your 'activism' is detected. You will probably end up on a list of suspected terrorists. :-)

My daughter attended a state school, studied German, Japanese and Latin to GCSE and has A Levels in Art, Design & Technology, Maths and Physics. I'm terrible at languages. I can't learn vocabulary (possibly undiagnosed ADHD), so I'd have hated being forced to continue to fail.

@subterfugue@sfba.social @danielbierstedt@norden.social @nixCraft@mastodon.social Automation is 'doing work automatically' that that used to be done by a human. This was justifiable when it freed them to do something more valuable with their time. We've replaced farm labourers, weavers and knitters, scribes, human computers, filing clerks and factory workers with machines. What will we do when machines replace thinking and our knowledge is no longer useful to whatever beings might have fed us but will decide that is no longer viable.
