From my experience the faster you are at work the more work is placed on your plate. I don't really see the benefit while robbing you a learning opportunity of stuff slightly out of ones comfort zone. Learning things that are not part of your domain make you a better developer. Letting an LLM do it, does not.

@HeckinChonker @Ardubal @hanshuebner @plexus i also think there ist a middleground. The Problem is that AI usage is not up the developers if or how to use it. Currently its being forced into my Workflow in a Domain that ist safety critical without any care or responsibility and I feel don't well with it. It is alienating and I seriously consider leaving the Tech industry for good because what I am currently doing keeps me awake at night since I has potential to hurt people.

Good thing is that medical devices have rather good quality control measures accounting for human Error in mind preventing some potential harm. I guess its a Trust the process Meeting a sceptical mind thing.

@hanshuebner@mastodon.social Its kind of shame that there are barely Jobs in running Makerspaces or Repair Cafes. I would love start a second career in these spaces educating people and helping them to build their pet projects for a living.

I am in the middle of my career and I am highly unsure were to go from here. Also a quote from a Junior Collegue today: I've asked claude to build a feature and half an hour later it was done like magic. Then he said, I don't know whats my purpose in my project anymore. To me that's facinating and concerning at the same time. I notice more interactions like this on a regular basis.

My employer uses GitHub Copilot (offering anthropic models) and they have usage based subscriptions (that still are subsediced). They have a spending Limit of 8000€ per Developer per month. Last Time they hit the Limit in the third week of the month. For some reason, the quota is not enforced per developer, its enforced as a whole blocking the entire development So what ever you run, its nowhere near the real coompute costs.

The current policy is that everybody should do as much as possible via LLMs (a policy that I don't follow aside from a few smaller usecases, productivity wise nobody really seem to notice ). I guess that changes since microsoft introduced usage based pricing in April and our budgeting is not really prepard for it.

@BMDS@social.bund.de bis jetzt war sich auszuweisen etwas besonderes was ich nur sehr selten tun muss. Wenn das bequemer wird steigt die Gefahr das mehr Dienste das von einem verlangen sich auszuweisen. Eigentlich mag ich es sehr gerne anonym zu bleiben außer es gibt einen wirklich guten Grund das jemand meinen Ausweis sehen muss. Im dem Sinne ist ein Feature solche Systeme nicht zu haben.
