Liddle was a horrible, awful person who did real harm to people. He basically openly admitted he was a paedophile in a publication that never even retracted it. Fabric bags of natural fibres presumably don't tend to do that, if you have a tote you're more likely to keep it til it falls to pieces I'd guess?

Not just the exploitative (extremely low pay) labour but the seriously traumatic nature of it, often with zero support for what people go through after reviewing the very worst of the Internet and what these models spit out while they're being trained. @PeterLudemann@mathstodon.xyz personally I don't think applying Clever Hans is that useful. It's a story everyone should know, and an important bias to be aware of, but Hans was a living creature who observed human behaviour and reacted to it in a way it thought best for itself, and its humans of interest. LLMs are not sentient in any way, may be programmed to tell humans what they want to hear, but 'acting in its best interest' is itself illusory. I think using this comparison, or making them out to be the same, carries the same anthropomorphising problem. I'm aware parrots are living creatures too, but the point is in them not using language in the way we do but repeating it. There is no perfect analogy/name. People call it AI now. The companies won on that.

Recipe text 1: Lemon Jumbles These lemony, melt-in-the-mouth biscuits (cookies) are made extra special by dredging with icing (confectioners') sugar just before serving. Makes about 50 INGREDIENTS: 100 g/3 oz/s cup butter, softened 125 g/4/2 oz/2 cup caster (superfine] sugar Grated rind of 1 lemon 1 egg, beaten 4 tbsp lemon juice 350 g/12 oz/3 cups plain (all-purpose) flour 1 tsp baking powder 1 tbsp milk (oat is fine) Icing (confectioners') sugar, for dredging Steps: 1 - Lightly grease several baking trays (cookie sheets). 2 - In a mixing bowl, cream 2 together the butter, caster (superfine) sugar & lemon rind until pale and fluffy. 3 - Add the beaten egg and lemon juice a little at a time, beating well after each addition. 4 - Sieve (strain) the flour & baking powder into the creamed mixture and blend together. Add the milk, mixing to form a dough. 5 Turn the dough out on to a lightly floured work surface and divide into ~ 50 equal-sized pieces. 6 - Roll each piece into a sausage 6 shape with your hands and twist in the middle to make an 'S' shape. 7 - Place on the prepared baking trays/cookie sheets & bake in a preheated oven, 170°C/325 F/Gas Mark 3, for 15-20 minutes.
