I was making potato and leek soup and the recipe asked for five potatoes cubed.
Even for potato soup, 125 potatoes seems a little excessive...

Honestly, this article on "Doggerland" is absolutely fascinating
"The floor of the North Sea is now recognized as the largest well-preserved prehistoric archaeological landscape in the world. It would have been a paradise for the bands of hunter-gatherers who followed the retreating ice sheets into the region to settle there. They, however, were not Doggerland’s first inhabitants. Millennia prior to their arrival, the North Sea basin had belonged to Neanderthals, who lived there for hundreds of thousands of years."

My partner and I went up to the Ryanair check-in desk this morning.
The lady asked: "Do you have reservations?"
I said: "Yes, but we're flying with you anyway."

At the age of 90 year old, Czech former agricultural worker Agnes Kasparkova continued her 13 year project to decorate her small village with hand-painting traditional Moravian motifs on the local houses.
"She painted the designs entirely by hand without using stencils. Over several decades, her artwork transformed parts of the village into a living example of preserved folk tradition and craftsmanship"

"The Facial Expressions of Tethys" by artist Julius von Bismarck is ... relaxing 🌊
📽️ A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves

I spent nearly half an hour this morning cross checking a Japanese print that is confidently being attributed to a famous, now dead, Japanese print maker on social media. 300 boosts on Bluesky etc.
Google Lens, Tineye ... no hits at all before 2026. AI slop is everywhere (sigh).
I guess the subtext is that I do try to filter the AI art stuff, but it's getting hard.

Cromwellian Commonwealth's Plans for Ireland
It seems lands seized by the Commonwealth Regime would be used in order to pay off their soldiers, debtors, etc. The Catholic Irish were to be completely removed from any pink land and moved to Connacht. All islands in this region was cleared of the Irish, plus a one-mile-wide strip of land all over the coast. Veterans who moved to Ireland were expected to keep their arms and act as a militia?
