I had a civil engineering prof spend a whole weeks homework on “sometimes the best solution is to do nothing”. It wasn’t written into the homework, it was the explanation afterwards of why all the active solutions were wrong.
I think someone in the back actually fell off his chair when the enlightenment hit.

For sighted users, scrolling and mouse-clicking pushed out learning keyboard shortcuts pretty quickly. I know people who don’t even know about tabbing through a form. Similar psychology?
It does not help that operating systems and applications never cooperated very well on either standard shortcuts, or being able to remap them.

I want a solid-dish-soap holder that’s a cross between an ancient oil lamp and a ginger grater. Pottery, toothy interior to grip the soap, pouring spout for using soap-drips as liquid soap, and a handle so I don’t put my hands in the soap. Enough roughness on the underside to attach counter-protecting feet.
Went looking, did not find, maybe a #pottery enthusiast or potter here makes one. Or could!

I don’t eat a lot of meat and when I do I pretty much lick the dishes clean, which likely makes my dishes easier. There’s a little bottle of Dawn under the sink for outlier meals that leave solid grease.

I lived on bicycle streets in Berkeley, open to but inconvenient for cars, and that was great. Grid access for bikes and wheelchairs and feet, so nothing was far away; cars moving slowly trying to get out.
And we got to see people learning to bicycle. Kids every year, generally a few adults, one year an elderly couple who were sooo anxious to start and so energetic at the end.
I hear the Barcelona superblocks manage the same, grid connectivity for people, limited cars.

I’m looking for a reference work on collecting small seeds. How early you can pick pods that shatter easily, tricks for containing seeds that you can’t pick pre shatter, how much a species? genus? is prone to inbreeding depression.
book or Extension publication, preferably. My current best is _Creative Propagation_, Thompson.

Sociology, not microbiology:
“Diseases of despair differ from diseases of poverty because poverty itself is not the central factor. Groups of impoverished people with a sense that their lives or their children's lives will improve are not affected as much by diseases of despair. Instead, this affects people who have little reason to believe that the future will be better.”

How rich am I?
Still eating last year’s dried plums
While this year’s ripen.
What wealth is sure?
None; drought, fire, exhaustion, hurt
Could still take the crop.

Yes! Not letting bullies benefit by dumping on others means all kinds of non-bullies can get on with doing the work and getting pay and respect for it. And not having to put up with bullies.
The mass in the middle has to understand that not having to work under bullies at all is _vastly better_ than the moments of bullies throwing us a crumb and beating up somebody else instead.

AIUI Project Gutenberg has a stable URI for each work, with an “ebook number” built in. And they keep old versions, when they fix errata, so URI and date should be enough to retrieve exactly what you read .
Maybe @gutenberg_org@mastodon.social can refine this?
just from volunteering at Distributed Proofreaders I ran across enough edge cases inherited from the printed works to make a “Fallacies Programmers Believe About Books”.

AIUI there are a lot of shared systems between “recovering from an infection and rebuilding damaged tissue” and “recovering from exertion etc”. So it might be perfectly normal.
It might also mean you could work out less hard, feel less sick, and still be getting stronger every time. Fairly simple notes about what you did and how you felt afterwards would help.

I have sort of a "civil disobedience" reasoning about plastic soil covers -- you don't need it unless you need it enough to use it uncovered.
Which will remind you to remove it as soon as possible and plant something you want into the bare soil!
But oh my gosh, people refusing to understand that weed seeds will grow in anything they use as mulch, there will be no "no weeding" outdoors space... this is why to take up gardening, have something to aim for not just attack.

District heat/cooling with ground loops moving heat around between seasons seems pretty hopeful, for example. Not free, but keeps people healthy using less than it takes now. No?

Any unscented un-moisturizing soap works I think. Slightly hippie stores make specific dish bars, but I’m happy with the big unscented bars of Dr Bronners.
Microbiologist here recently pointed out that soap is more directly damaging to more microbes than detergents are. That sounds like a good reason for soap to me!
