Yes puppy, that 30m of Cat5e cable was much too long. Thank you for chewing it into shorter lengths.

Is this one of those industry awards, where they sting you a small fortune to have dinner and buy a whole table, and that pays for award for the person who basically gets picked out of a hat to win?
Then everyone pats each other on the back, there is a publicity publication, which you basically get stung more money for to put your ad in( else you don't "win")

The same people who don't read past the first sentence and jump to often wrong conclusions.
Then reply using the artificial colours and flavours machine to generate a 5 page reply with meaningless wishy washy corporate writing.
That could just have been "I agree"

This isn't tinny, with Zuck not hearing the radio because he is fishing.
It would be well crewed.
The boat even regularly has support boats that shadow it, to carry small boats, jet skis and helicopters.
It would also be well connected. Satellite comms, Radios on multiple frequencies. Even if actively using a different frequency, there would still be a radio on the main channel.

Friend had just finished installing a new access control system and fancy cctv system for an Australian Army base. Kind of something you want secure.
Finished up, showed them how to use it.
"Ok, we need to set up passwords, what do you want to use?"
He spent the next hour rejecting everything they suggested. Every was so week or easily guessed.
It started with "password"

American Economy #Winning
Credit card balances that are 90 or more days delinquent hit 13.1% in Q1 2026, the highest level in about sixteen years. The last time it looked like this, the 2008 crisis was still unfolding.
Student loan delinquency climbed to 10.3%, which means 7.7 million borrowers got their credit scores knifed for a degree that’s no longer connected to a future source of income.
Auto loan delinquencies are at the highest level the New York Fed has ever recorded in its series, which goes back to 2003.
111M (42% of all U.S. adults) can’t pay their credit card bill in full each month.
68M are “debt-stressed,” meaning they’re using more than 30% of their available credit — a threshold that used to embarrass people and now describes almost a quarter of the country.
20M Americans are behind on utility bills. In 2024, power got shut off 13M times. That’s not one shutoff per person; that’s the same households getting cut, restored, cut, restored, cut.
Foreclosure filings rose 26% in early 2026 and it’s not even because of mortgages. It’s mostly because of property taxes, insurance premiums that have gone completely feral, and HOA fees.

I found this. Queensland were looking at conversions at one point.
https://energycouncil.com.au/rebirthing-coal-power-stations-into-synchronous-condensers/
Unfortunately, it is nowhere near as easy for fossil-fuel plant to convert and operate as a SC:
Firstly, a steam or gas turbine can’t spin in air at low losses like a water turbine. The turbine must be disconnected from generator or have all its blades removed.
Secondly, if the power station is no longer operating, it needs a new way to start the synchronous machine with either a pony motor or frequency converter.
Thirdly it needs new control systems to manage the machine as a SC as well as other ancillary matters, such as increased noise.
Fourthly, as much of a generator’s inertia comes from its turbine blades, if the SC is to provide equivalent inertia, it will require a flywheel.
Fifthly, the ongoing staffing and maintenance requirement of an ex-power station site and generator would be higher than an automated, purpose-built SC.
Any retrofit is also highly site dependent. For example, is there space for a new thrust bearing to enable disconnection from the turbine, and can the foundations safely carry the weight of a flywheel?
DigSILENT estimate that converting a coal plant to SC would cost 60-100% the cost of equivalently sized purpose-built SCs and take 18-24 months.

We have them here in Australia.
NSW has more on order, as there is a few years backlog. They reduced time bu going for double the amount of smaller ones.
Contact for foundations was recently signed.

South Australia installed more and was able to drastically reduce gas stations running, just to stablise the grid.
https://reneweconomy.com.au/sa-syncons-deliver-big-savings-as-they-set-wind-free-and-cut-gas-output/
Queensland https://reneweconomy.com.au/1000-tonnes-of-spinning-metal-network-inks-deal-to-add-four-syncons-to-state-grid/
Meanwhile AEMO is doing trails to see that grid forming batteries can so the job cheaper

Plastic bag sealer.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/356251151129?var=625242804298&stype=1&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
(Can't verify quality or electrical safety of this one. Seems very cheap)
Back in 1990 was part of the Young Archivers program. About 25 students from various a schools, were teamed up with a company for guidance and you would run your own company, sell shares, make a product etc.
Someone had the idea of turning excess plastic our host company had lots of, into plastic punchos. Like the thin disposable ones, but thicker.
Used a thermal bag sealer for straight sides, but the hoods were curves. I think we sewed them together.

Yeah, a few years ago. did read somewhere coal power stations were considering that. But that was a while ago. No idea if they decided it was feasible.
Maybe it was an ealier plan for Liddell, closure, before the Abbott and Barnaby tried to kill it.

But this clearly isn’t just about crude oil; it is also about refining, with diesel futures trading around USD $214 a barrel (retail equates to almost USD $269).
The price difference between diesel and crude oil futures, or the “crack spread,” is now about USD $112 a barrel, higher than the price of crude itself — which is most unusual.

The Barclays team goes further. By running a series of complicated regression analyses on RPS survey data, it finds no evidence that AI’s doing anything positive: correlations between industry-level adoption rates and improvements in productivity are “not statistically distinguishable from zero”, it says. Any observable improvement “largely reflects persistent differences across industries rather than a measurable acceleration in productivity growth attributable to AI”:

People are saying daily connection rates are much higher and higher peak rates. For Ausgrid areas in NSW. Even energy companies saying it will cost you more.
Haven't looked at it properly. No smart meter, just a flat rate with off peak HW.

Probably take a while for more competition to set in.

It was a successful test.
At 1.50 pm, they had no idea how many cell towers would work.
Now they know exactly.
And they can look at the logs, look at the various configurations, networks, equipment , similarities and work out why there were failures and start to fix them.
They also know exactly where the alert system will and won't get to. So if say there was an emergency tomorrow, say the great emu war resumed, they would know which areas would need extra person power and alternative means to get people to safety.
That is why they had a test.
Rather than waiting until a real emergency.
