I used to turn down follow requests from accounts with no profile images until I realized a lot of Blind users don't use profile images. While a lack of a profile image remains one data point when assessing an account, if the account has a proper bio and I see that the person is posting regular human posts that aren't spammy, that cancels out the lack of a profile image. I'm mutuals with at least three folks who don't have one. (They're all Blind.)

@catsalad@infosec.exchange You people are like junior high school mean girls giving someone the silent treatment. Lucky for you, Gen X is not the kind to go to the teacher and complain.
I'm good enough!
I'm smart enough!
And god darn it, people like me!

Update: My 19th vertebra seems to be squished. I have to come back tomorrow for an MRI and to have a corset prepared. The doc said the corset is "like chest armor." So this should be fun.
Unfortunately, my MRI appointment overlaps with #Monsterdon, which is too bad, since I was really looking forward to watching these goofy movies with the gang.

Rachel last week, shaking her head at news footage of people driving into 50-centimeter-deep water during a flood: "They must be panicking and their judgment is impaired."
Rachel yesterday: "Why, yes, I'm sure I can carry this pumpkin that weighs as much as an adult human."

So my wonderful friend took her own car back to her home, returned to where I was by train, and drove me an hour to my home in Kyoto, in my car, before returning to her own home by train.
It's not as bad as the time I broke a couple of ribs, but it hurts to stand up, lie down, and sit up.
Lesson learned: Ask for help rather than trying to carry a 55 kg pumpkin alone. 4/4

Miraculously, I didn't drop the pumpkin. It was also a miracle that the friend I was with is 1) one if the sweetest angels I know and 2) a school nurse. I'm also lucky to have an acupuncturist for a partner, and I reported to her as soon as I caught my breath. (I was having trouble breathing, almost as if I had been hit hard in the chest.) . 2/4

The whole attempted rape thing spoiled this movie for me. I think this director suffers from a generalized misanthropy with a huge dollop of misogyny thrown in. #Monsterdon

I never know how to respond to the "Was this the worst #Monsterdon movie?" poll, because I don't know if it means "worst" as in "so-worst-it's-best" way, or if it means "Choosing this film for Monsterdon was a terrible mistake way."
I would say "Sting of Death" was an excellent choice for Monsterdon, as evidenced by all the fun we had mocking every scene. I would say "Mako: Jaws of Death" was a mistake, because the attempted rape scene made it so disturbing in a decidedly unfunny way.

They attacked him because he didn't have his pendant on. This was somehow even worse than Sting of Death. #Monsterdon

If you enjoyed The Tomb of Ligeia, I recommend reading the Wikipedia page about it. It seems the relative quality is largely due to the writer, Robert Towne, taking his job very seriously. It's also interesting that neither Corman nor Towne wanted Price, who was already 53 at the time. #Monsterdon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tomb_of_Ligeia

The three of us discussed it, and decided that rather than trying to get looked at in an emergency room in Osaka, I should go home and see our neighborhood orthopedic surgeon tomorrow. My partner thinks I might have sprained my thoracic vertebra, and my friend was inclined to agree. (I didn't know "thoracic vertebra" in either Japanese or English.) 3/4

I should not have been surprised to learn that Journey to the Center of Time and The Wizard of Mars had the same director. They shared the same "I have no idea how to make a movie, but I do know how to superimpose an image of a galaxy on a disembodied face" vibe. #Monsterdon

The whole ending made little sense, but generally one of the best Price movies or Corman movies I've seen. Thanks to @Taweret@timeloop.cafe and @ryan@social.miyaku.media as always. #Monsterdon
