@feff@comicscamp.club thank you (and everyone else) for the replies! Looks like I was somewhat on the right track with the day to day stuff, and I appreciate the advice! And I like this nameless/ageless hiring idea, thanks!

@tarabara@indieweb.social your second paragraph is exactly the kind of thing I wanted to learn, that's something really useful to know, thanks for sharing!

@GeePawHill@mastodon.social I never know what to do, do I favour women twice as much in applications than men? That's "sexist" too, but then I guess it's kind of trying to make it more equal for them? And then how would women feel knowing that they got hired because I was biased towards them? Would they be creeped out? Also what if it's all good and I helped them, but the environment is not suitable? Had a very strong junior engineer last year, and she was being picked on in meetings more than on one occasion. I'd like to do good, but I genuinely don't know/understand how 😭

@androcat@toot.cat @jasongorman@mstdn.business "so your test results came back..." The doctor lets out a silent sigh, briefly meets your eye before turning around to walk to a giant white board on the wall. He glances at you over his shoulders one last time before moving your name from "triaging" to "done"

@nicopap@tooting.ch crap, not in CH, otherwise would've slapped the apply button so fast... best of luck to you guys, appreciate the no AI mandate stuff!

@mrmasterkeyboard@mastodon.social wtf, the audacity! "Hey we inhaled all of your code without consent, now you're responsible for cleaning it up" Maybe a solar flare is the way to go?

@seedsignal@mastodon.social hi, I don't think you're blocked, I can see your replies I'm going through them in a bit

@GeePawHill I really appreciate you, truly! I have seen so many people I used to look up to succumb to LLMs, but not you. I also sent your post about testing "our branching logic" so many times (I find it to be an excellent take)!

@funcrunch oh crap, I didn't know! I'll migrate away from it

on the positive side I get to watch my kids a lot, and it's the best feeling in the world! Maybe even if I'm lazy it's not that big of a deal? So much more to life than just work. If only I would be wealthy enough to keep doing this until I die (of old age, otherwise it's possible if I die like Saturday).

@robb@social.lol this is such a breath of fresh air honestly!

the best thing about giving up on my (and by proxy my family's) future is that I can play (and lose!) 5 dota matches in a row, sprinkled with some losses in the finals too! I had these big plans to start my own company, but I tasted the sweetness of not being bound to anything, and having 0 meetings and I can't be arsed to go back

when I see ai bashing posts on linkedin, that's a good day in my books

@CurlyParakeet@mastodon.online @webhat@infosec.exchange no milk, sugar, lemon juice

@chiefgyk3d@social.chiefgyk3d.com I'm not so sure on the brilliant part honestly, but definitely a major disappointment. From the guy who advocated for remote work to be... whatever he's today.

@paco@infosec.exchange I really don't want to hijack your post, but I hope you enjoy that car! I've been eyeing it, but it was too expensive ATM, and I don't have my own house to charge an EV... sadly had to put purchasing one off for a few years. Happy and accident free driving!

@jplebreton@mastodon.social don't even think about putting it back in the bottle. IT'S NOT POSSIBLE, WE'RE BEING LEFT BEHIND AS WE SPEAK!

I wish I could run my own company without having to advertise it. I hate ads so so much and I think they're kind of what ruined the internet, and a lot of other things, but feels like I must play this game. Nevertheless, I'll try to advertise in the forms of shitposts... maybe that'll get me the perfect customers

save me from ai tech bros pleaaaseeee

if you scam people for a living, how do you do your taxes?

@jasongorman@mastodon.cloud I sometimes wish they would... at least I could justify having to succumb to this madness.

@acf@masto.alancfrancis.com I'm not a big football guy, but this was maybe the worst I ever saw. I get it that the stakes were high but there was just too much fighting (and/or faking)

A knight rider remake would be hilarious, instead of KITT's brain there'd be a modern LLM. "You are right Michael, I made up the turbo functionality, and now we're falling off a cliff. I'm not gonna sugarco-"

omfg anxiety and I'm still employed this week, it's gonna be bad isn't it?

@atax1a@infosec.exchange and then you see people "fixing" those "errors" without a second thought

I always wanted to get full sleeves (tattoos), but ever since I saw a video about the immune system constantly battling the ink under the skin, I feel like I don't want to overburden the little guys you know?

@algernon@come-from.mad-scientist.club I'd so love to learn more 😅I don't have an account there so I only filtered one specific tag on the site (and it was a huge improvement), but there is one person who I'd love to not hear from ever again

@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org it wasn't just fancy for us; it signalled wealth, it was a status symbol!
