@cwebber@social.coop I always enjoy @andrewrk@mastodon.social's talks: he is an engineer's engineer. Keep being awesome! (Both of you.)

@kangaroo5383@mastodon.social I still have multiple pairs of extremely nice trousers that I will eventually fit back into. It's only been 20 years, so any day now.

@deech@mastodon.social The software space is a flame for those moths who hide in excessive thought, and then the fact that much of the work is morally bankrupt or pointless is a bonus bug zapper

#Emacs fans! Check out this write-up from Jonas of some long-awaited changes we're rolling out on MELPA. He has done lots of complex work to push this complex over the line recently. 🙌

Literally the only indication that the current page is an "Issue" in Linear is that /issue/ is in the URL. I am not even joking. Every life-force-sapping grey page looks the same and there's no navigation or hierarchy, and also the search is bad.

@baldur@toot.cafe GitHub dropped their Actions pricing this year to get people off 3rd party runners, so it's weird for them to complain about foot pain after they pulled the trigger

@haruki_zaemon@aus.social In 2015 I moved to NZ three months ahead of the rest of the family, and it was hard work, because we'd rarely been apart up to then. You'll all be delighted once you get back home.

@irfan@sakurajima.social Nah, the install is fine and fully automated these days, and you can also use nix-darwin to declare which homebrew apps you want -- indeed you typically need a few casks in addition to what's available in nixpkgs. But it's a good story overall IMO.

@M0CUV@mastodon.radio I got hooked in early Feb, and their identity was pretty easy to stumble across even then. I clicked once to listen to their previous band, but I'd rather not have them reduced to human names and lifestyle facts. Just give me that pure joy of art!

@rootwyrm@weird.autos @baldur@toot.cafe Not quite: they initially announced the price drop at the same time as the coordination fee for third-party runners, and subsequently rolled back the latter. (But yes, it was whiny and cheeky!)

@thirstybear @cwebber Can't do that in a regulated environment, at least, where 2 humans need to have reviewed every change to production. I'm aware of one AI-enamoured fintech business that is having this uncomfortable realisation as it seeks to get a banking licence.
