@LilahTovMoon I knew that ;) It was a riff on Steve Coogan's "Where are the rest of our universities? Why is it always Oxford and Cambridge in the final?" and also a pet peeve about how Arwen is given a superficially larger role in the movies but at the same time demoted from a being who everyone could see was the sole motivation for everything Aragorn does, and understand why.

I think you're screwed. I've spoken to hiring managers whose first question is "how much do you spend on tokens per month?" There are people hiring for non-AI jobs, but they want experience from before these dark times.
An actual computer engineering degree may be valuable in the future, I certainly hope it will, we will need to engineer our way out of this pit, but it's not a great bet.

@burnitdown@beige.party @jonny@neuromatch.social my bike's pedal assist cuts out a 42km/h, but it's top speed (as in the fastest it's been going when I've looked at the speedometer) is 73.
I'm assuming it's the former that's subject to regulation?

@richardh@mastodon.nz I run an export from Gnucash through a program I wrote myself that does all the allocations based on floor area etc. for the home office and rental flat. That outputs a spreadsheet that the accountant appears to be able to read.
One of these days this tool chain will be simpler.

@LilahTovMoon 34% of respondents are straight men, and Arwen doesn't even make the final round? I blame Liv Tyler.
Arwen is canonically the third most beautiful woman in history and poor Liv barely scrapes the top 10.
[Edit, see? My subconscious knows she's not even the most beautiful Liv]

@mayintoronto @coolandnormal "Doona" for duvet is only used by Australians, as far as I know. I'm sure whatever the architectural trick is of making it colder inside the house than out* is a blessing in summer, but we've had the heat pump on in the house we're staying in in Melbourne this week.
- they build them like that in NZ as well, where it's much less practical.

I believe the tune is called "Colonel Bogey". I don't know if it originally had lyrics.
The ones I learned, at a generation's remove from WW2, were:
Hitler,
has only got one ball
Göring,
has two but they were small
Himmler,
had something sim'lar
And Josef Göbbels
had no balls
at all.

- Got my replacement passport. Well done NZ high commission in London.
- Air Transat found my bag. It was in Islamabad. No-one knows how, but it swapped tags with someone else's bag who was going there.
- All set for flying to Toronto tomorrow and back to AoNZ on Thursday.

- Guy time, helping my host and his neighbour fix the fence that blew over in the last storm. 10 post holes dug and posts cemented in (except the one where we tried the foam, not a fan).
- Poutine. It's not my favourite Canadian food (that's cretons) but it's a notable contribution to world cuisine.
- The Internet. Yes, a lot of it is bots and shit sites, but it still enables real human connection, and we shouldn't throw that out with the heads in the baskets under the guillotines.

@groxx@hachyderm.io @inthehands@hachyderm.io Code coverage is a measure of maximum testability. If you only have 90% coverage then you are testing no more than 90% of your code.
I was briefly fascinated by mutation testing, where you randomly change a bit in your code and see which tests fail. If none do, either you need more tests, or you don't need that code
