Link below is a lengthy, considered, well-written set of arguments against the Legislation (Definitions of Woman and Man) Amendment Bill by someone in Wellington called Rhiannon Bond. I recommend having a read of it if you're wanting to put in a submission before they close at 11:59pm tonight. https://rantandreason.substack.com/p/a-culture-war-bill-dressed-up-as (Sorry, I hate the platform it's published on but still subscribe to a few excellent writers on there.) There's also an excellent submission from @civillibertynz@mastodon.social at https://nzccl.org.nz/submission-legislation-definition-of-woman-and-man-amendment-bill/ Remember - no copying & pasting, best to put things in our own words as they will only count unique submissions. There are a lot of submission guides out there, I have more links if anyone needs them.

@thomasbeagle I should really get a shingles vax. Flu is free through work, fortunately.

@jeremy_pm@mastodon.nz I meant to say thanks for sharing this. Got very distracted trying to find when it happened, turns out it was six months ago! Not sure why they didn't mention that. (There's a post on FB from the New Zealand Society that mentioned it.) @ClareBear@mastodon.nz

@ThisCJ it's a value for money thing. They're still looking at several options for widening access, according to https://www.pharmac.govt.nz/medicine-funding-and-supply/medicine-notices/shingrix @thomasbeagle

@jeremy_pm@mastodon.nz @ClareBear@mastodon.nz Brash's performance at the same debate appears to have been widely publicised by him and his followers at the time, but not as far as I can tell by the actual media. (I don't recommend reading or watching it, it's somewhat rage inducing.)

@gwenbeads my mum would've loved your book. She was a fan of Contemporary Geometric Beadwork (https://beadmobile.wordpress.com/) and before the cancer she'd been close to finishing this beautiful piece. Her longtime tutor organised her other students to finish it for us after Mum died.

@BobLefridge well done gathering spoons to do it again. I've learnt the hard way to always copy my words before I hit submit... @leighelse @civillibertynz

@georgepenney@sunny.garden have a wonderful day 💜

@floatybirb that's "a" Medusa not "the" Medusa. Not volunteering to be raped by a sea god.

@irix@cloudisland.nz omg they're so young. Never heard of that, surprised it wasn't huge here - it sounds great! (Or did I just miss it?!)

@leighelse @thomasbeagle sorry that happened to you all, this is very good motivation thank you

@whatthehall nice! I'd never considered what an apt name that organisation has for Pride event participation 😊

I love this song so much. That bassline 💜🎵💜🎵💜 "Nothing to Lose" by The Adults (version 1 - of the band, not the track), 2011 https://youtu.be/fx6G0NGZJxU #CloseToOurHearts#JukeboxFridayNight

"A Beat For You" by Pseudo Echo (1982) "In my life, I've many strong desires And still, in all, I'm reaching for the fire You never look, you never see You never notice when you're next to me But feel my heart, it's burning with desire" (I was a tiny bit obsessed with this song and the video for it as a young'un.) https://youtu.be/QcTYGNsUVxA #JukeboxFridayNight #HotOrCold

"GAINZ" by Anna Coddington (2024) "I'm tryna turn the heat up but I'm cold in the bed at night" https://youtu.be/RXyh-hX-R9A #JukeboxFridayNight #HotOrCold
