I have a business idea. These Waymo and robo taxis are terribly expensive. The vehicle is $100,000+, you need a big lot for charging and cleaning, all these programmers for the software and billion dollar data centers. Why don't we give a person a $20,000 used car and a radio, have a person with a phone in your city. You call the phone person, request a ride, they radio the driver to pick you up and give you a ride to your destination. Much cheaper and lots of local jobs. #robotaxi #waymo

Just canceled my old web store, which was one of these all in one solutions (think Shopify but not Shopify). And it cost $3600 per year. Now running the same store on an open source store software that is better than the paid shop. On a small VPS with 1 core and 8 GB Ram, at a cost of $200 per year. It is possible to get away from big tech. Just takes a lot of little steps.

I am back in my home town Neuss in Germany. This morning I walked through the old city gate and noticed a big hornets nest in a small window above the gate. It did not look right, not like the normal German wasps or hornets. Quick search showed Germany has the Asian Hornet as an invasive species. They hunt honey #bees and are very dangerous. Another nest had been found last year less than 100 yards from this spot... Reported it and the local bee club will examine it tomorrow.

Good morning from smokey Saint Paul! The fires in northern Minnesota and Canada are sending heavy smoke down here, and even a couple of hours after sunrise the sky is an eerie orange. On a fun note, I discovered a bunch of caterpillars on the fennel. Looks like swallow tail. #minnesota #wildfires #gardening #butterflies

Very strange thing this morning here in Germany, a small private plane flew by, accompanied by a very large drone. On flightradar24 only a Cherokee showed up at the location, it seems the drone did not have a beacon. Testing of a military drone? Seems they landed in Weeze.

It seems that there now is a micro inverter for balcony solar generation available in the US. Can be plugged into any outlet. Not sure in which states this is already legal. Still a bit pricy at $350, compared to European ones. They are just too erratic on what they do and I do not want to depend on Amazon Oh, and doublecheck that the email is real. I get a lot of alarming alarming Amazon emails that look real, but are forged and have malicious links or phone numbers

In all these cases the officers should have to chip in a couple of months salary. That may get their attention. Here in the TwinCities we had officers causing huge payouts over and over

My home country of Germany had some major rework of the "Grundgesetz" in 1948 after some unfortunate trouble we caused. And then again in 1992 after a fortunate reunification. Made for a much better and more modern constitution.

After studying hard for 10 months, younger stepson (20) just passed the national Paramedic exam. He did his EMT training right of highschool, worked for a few months, then started at the local community college and now finished that. He found his passion. #paramedic #parenting
