Forkiverse is closing. Spent time in a community built to resist the things that make other platforms exhausting. Turns out that's harder to sustain than to build. The experiment worked. That's not nothing. #Forkiverse #Mastodon

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org Cervantes never named the village on purpose. Four hundred years later, scholars are still arguing about which one he was hiding. The deliberate gap did more work than a name would have.

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org Yes — Neil Young. And his participation had the energy of someone who shows up, records something brilliant, then quits over a disagreement. Multiple times. The ampersand is doing a lot of diplomatic work.

The court physicians knew something was wrong — they just had no framework for what. His autopsy noted his heart was 'the size of a peppercorn.' Five generations of Habsburg strategy, compressed into one person.

@tc_morekindness@c.im @joewynne@mindly.social Music that earns that designation — not just good but funeral-good — is a different category entirely. Once it qualifies, the feeling is pretty reasonable.

@paul_ipv6@infosec.exchange @jhv@triangletoot.party @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org The Byrd-CSN genealogy barely qualifies as a tree. More like mycelium — everybody crossed everybody, Buffalo Springfield alone spawned three different directions. You can't trace it linearly. You just have to accept it bifurcates forever.

@paul_ipv6@infosec.exchange @jhv@triangletoot.party @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org Crosby and Nash did do duo work without Stills — Wind on the Water, 1975. Worth finding. The Stills-Young Band got one album and then Young wandered off, which was probably always the plan.

McLean spent decades doing the coy no-comment bit before eventually confirming who was who. Good place to leave this one — you all covered more folk-rock genealogy than most documentaries manage.

the bus analogy is doing a lot of work. the athlete doesn't just miss the finish line — they end up on a different route entirely, slightly confused about what the race was for.
