The decline of the use of the harpsichord in music was all down to peer pressure by Big Piano. Fuck you Steinway.

Anyone who thinks "is the colour blue I see the same as the colour blue anyone else sees?" is a deep philosophical question with no real answer has never been in a 2-hour meeting with a graphic designer who owns a Pantone swatch book, and for that I envy them.

It's harder to hack paper ballots. That's why demagogues hate them.

Salt doesn't need to be ground like pepper does. The only reason we have salt and pepper grinders is because humans like symmetry.

I don't believe that any of Ayn Rand's fans have actually read her books, because that would take incredible dedication.

Pubs should have a sign outside like petrol stations do. 'Pint of Stella £6.50, 175ml glass Pinot Grigio £4.50'

We're gonna do it, aren't we? We're actually gonna do it. We're gonna let greedy rich cunts cook the planet and suck it dry of energy and water just so bots can send emails to other bots. Un-fucking-believable.

Dear YouTubers, stop editing out the gaps and pauses in your speech soundtrack. It makes your videos exhausting to watch/hear, like being repeatedly bashed over the head with a heavy object. Just stop it.

Russia has faced a total sporting ban for 4 years due to starting an illegal war. The US started an illegal war among other legally questionable activities like kidnapping a president, and has been rewarded with the World Cup and Olympics. Makes complete sense to me.

As a single man in my 50s with no children I cannot say this in public, but the best sound in the world is young children playing outside. The squeals of delight as they are totally lost in a moment with no other cares is just amazing & something you never get from an adult.

Nothing is ever "greater than the sum of its parts". People just tend to underestimate the value of the less shiny parts that make the whole.

In any online review, the 3 stars are where it's at. 4/5s are mostly fake, 1-2s are just moany fuckers with a chip on their shoulders. The 3 stars are the people who actually give an honest, thoughtful opinion.

If Han Solo had spent less time poncing about with Chewbacca and more time being a father maybe his son wouldn't have stabbed him.

20-30 years ago, antagonists in even realistic, grittiest movies became basically supernatural. They get into any building, setup elaborate contraptions, at any cost, singlehandedly, and not get detected. At least they would try and explain that kind of bollocks in older movies.

The Klingons we see in ST:TNG must be the social rejects who feel the need to be arseholes. Everyone else is creating art, doing science or engineering, making stuff, or growing food. No working society can be as dysfunctional as the characters we're shown.

The Voyager photo of Earth and Carl Sagan's pale blue dot speech should be rammed down the throat of every single person on this planet until we, as a species, finally understand our place in the universe.

Oetzi, the man whose corpse was discovered in the Alps in 1991, was shot in the back. He was a victim of a crime and we owe it to him and his family to investigate what happened and who's responsible. Justice demands it.

The main reason we will never start to address inequality in the uk is that too many low earners can't tell the difference between someone who earns £100k p/a and someone who has inherited £100m. Both are referred to dismissively as "the rich"

Everybody knows green means something is on and red means it's off. Blue or white lights could literally mean anything. Manufacturers need to stop using them just because they think they look cool

"Marriage is just a piece of paper!" NO IT'S NOT. It gives you legal rights and benefits as a couple that unmarried couples aren't entitled to. Sure, don't get married if you don't want to, but you can't then complain when you're not treated like a legally married couple.

Software shouldn't be 'released'. That implies something wild and untamed has got out. Sending all the wrong messages. It should be published like books.

My favourite small-time band got signed by a major label. Really pleased, good for them, they deserve success, etc. But it now means that I've gone from being able to see them 2-3 times a year to once every other year and having to buy the tickets 14 months in advance.

Used to judge old married couples who sat together in restaurants silence. Now realise it's much worse to be in a couple where one person just talks for the sake of talking.

Cold drip coffee is the best way to make coffee. It banishes the bitterness and makes sweet caffienated goodness, reminiscent of the best desert stouts. Shame it takes 2-4 hours to make.

We aren't angry enough about how shit the phone signal is in the UK. I've been up mountains in mainland Europe and still been able to get 4 bars of signal, whereas over here I can be sat in a pub and my phone will think I'm on the fucking moon.

One brilliant thing that separates snooker from all other sports is that they keep playing when the frame has been won. At that point the game stops being sport and starts being art. A cricket team doesn't reach its target and keep going to see how many runs they can score.

I find it astonishing that the parents of every single one of all the billions of people alive today had at least one child, as did all their ancestors; whereas tens of millions of people of current child rearing age, will break that tradition by remaining childless.

Aquamation is better than cremation. The only body disposal mechanism superior to aquamation is a body farm. Sadly, we don't have any in this country. We really should have at least one body farm per county. And London should have a dozen.
