Twenty five years ago today I started the #Safari and #WebKit projects at #Apple Computer. Which means Safari is now old enough to rent itself a car. But let's not speculate about my age. I'm still sad I can't use Safari on my Windows PC. Alas, I lost the battle to keep it there. But at least WebKit's DNA seeded or influenced most browsers we use today. And I'm proud of that impact. Along with the wonderful team I built who made it all happen. Here's to another 25, friends. Cheers. 🥂😊💖

RE: https://mastodon.social/@gwynnion/116924755937556459 This is actually the start of a whole thread. And you should read it.

You all know I'm trans. So, I care a LOT about presentation, about how I look and how I'm perceived. In a medium that is primarily text-based, I would think it's important to preserve the manner in which the author's text is formatted. ESPECIALLY WHEN THAT AUTHOR IS DESCRIBING THEMSELVES! Look, I might as well just change the BIO text field to: "See https://lisamelton.net/about/ because Mastodon constrains self expression" Am I upset about this issue? Yes! Aren't you? 2/3

If you don't see this behavior in your Mastodon profile, it's probably because you're running an older version of the Web software. I'm on mastodon.social and it's currently running version v4.6.0-alpha.7+pr-38939-5f3002f. Again, because I don't normally look at my own profile, I have no idea when this heinous formatting began in the development process. Because my version is an alpha, I hope that means there's plenty of time for Mastodon to fix this self-inflicted mistake. 3/3

@exchgr@mastodon.world But... but... it's a *gentle* wave. You can tell by its eyes. 😂

@gwynnion This. 💯

@ShadSterling@mastodon.social It appears to be a glitch introduced by a change to the CSS. Unclear whether it was intentional.

@siwek@social.tooinconsistent.com Ah. So this is CSS horkage. Great. Well, the good news is that it's easily fixed.

@eniko@mastodon.gamedev.place This. 💯

@bruce@darkmoon.social Oops! 😊

@arazil@elvenstar.cafe Thanks! @imanijoy@mastodon.social let me know about the fix earlier this morning. 💖

@sandorspruit@mastodon.nl Read the third part of my message.

@mcnado@mstdn.social You'll only see it on profiles that are running on the latest version of Maston. That's why it seems inconsistent. @larand@appdot.net

@larand@appdot.net Read the third part of my message.

@noodlemaz@mstdn.games @CStamp@mastodon.social I take that back. It appears that i might be an error in the CSS from a cleanup pass through the stylesheet.

@stefan@stefanbohacek.online Yes. @Gargron@mastodon.social even invited me. But the one session I wanted to and could attend was already full. So, no joy for me.

@jernej__s@infosec.exchange Interesting! I first noticed it yesterday so, yeah, it's gotta be recent.

@vor@lgbtqia.space Yes, that's because Ivory is not the Web software. As I mentioned in my post. @ivory@tapbots.social

@larand@appdot.net Correct. You need the upcoming version of Mastodon to see this.

@michaelgemar@cosocial.ca Yes.

@michaelgemar@cosocial.ca It turns out the problem was caused by deleting CSS code that the developers didn't realize was still being used. It was corrected shortly after my original post.

@CStamp@mastodon.social Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure it's intentional foolishness.

@michaelgemar@cosocial.ca LOL! I like to think so. 😂
