If all of you all (you know who you are) currently exploring #NetBSD (for, uh, reasons*) would donate a little bit of money to the NetBSD Foundation, I am sure that sad little gauge under the logo would look a lot better. https://www.netbsd.org/donations/#how-to-donate Because right now, it stands at about 12K out of a goal of 50K and it makes me sad. 😔 Donate! 💶 💵 💷 (* good reasons, I might add)

A lot of these have an impressive number of CVEs attached, probably due to AI, update!

Headline in the guardian: "If you build something vastly smarter than you, it better be on your side’: can we stop AI from deceiving us?" Mate, AI is NOT smarter, it's just parroting what it has read elsewhere, calculating the most probable response to your input and consistently failing to provide correct replies. Because it's not intelligent at all. And it does not even have any process remotely looking like intelligence. AI is just a marketing term. Stop repeating the BS from Anthropic.

Installed Dillo ( @dillo@fosstodon.org ) and NetSurf on that little #NetBSD machine. Both are really fast, NetSurf seems a bit more complete. But I have a soft spot in my heart for Dillo, as I used it for years with Sylpheed to read emails that were HTML only.

Kind of a scary looking display in this picture, but it clears up and goes back to normal pretty quickly. Wifi is now working, time is set, pkgin is downloading in the background, and the whole thing still feels pretty snappy.
