Also, a bit of context on primary button width: The extra space accounts for differences in localization of text.
For example, 'Cancel request' translates in German to 'Folgeanfrage zurückziehen'.

Great question. This is up to your server and software. If it supports collections, it should provide you with a similar way to opt out; if it does not support the feature, your account will not be able to be added to a collection on another server.

@Robotistry Understandable! While our focus for DW is on what we can change (Mastodon's official apps), key findings will be shared publicly for any app developers to benefit from. If you're using a third-party app, your participation is still encouraged for at least two reasons: (1) what's working for you elsewhere might provide insight about how we fix usability issues over here, and (2) some user requests might require changes to the API or backend, which could impact other apps.

@jwildeboer if you read the event descriptions for the roundtable days, you'll notice that none of them are feature-specific. That's by design. Instead of organizing narrowly around feature-centered topics, we're going higher level to explore key themes and needs. I want to understand not just what, but why. Depending on your 'why,' markdown support might be a topic for either the Tuesday or Wednesday sessions. @Mastodon

@f4grx "beyond Mastodon" means that being a current Mastodon user isn't a requirement for participation in the Discovery Week research. And yes, people currently using Meta/Threads, X, BlueSky, etc. who are curious about making the leap into the Fediverse are also encouraged to sign up.

@codinghorror haha, indeed! We have an immediate fix coming that'll make the top tab sticky (clicking on "Posts" already directs to the same place as clicking on "See all", so an option to expand will always be in view.
From there, we'll also be exploring bigger, broader improvements to search and discovery in 5.0.

We're a fan of Fedidevs starter packs and are actually trying to explore ways to display those in Mastodon as well – we encourage you to keep using Fedidevs starter packs and stay tuned for more updates.

Hi @weddige! It's great to hear your excitement about Collections.
We've chosen to hold off on enabling the feature on mastodon.social until collections-related notifications (e.g. 'this person added you to a collection') are implemented in our official mobile apps.
We'd hoped to get the feature in your hands sooner, but also want to maintain our focus on user control by expanding the ways users are notified and can remove themselves.
