@Blender@mastodon.social

In these uncertain and divisive times, we appreciate Anthropic offering support to the Blender project [...]

I wanted to write some thoughtful reply to that, but you know what..

Simply, fuck off.

RE: @aral@mastodon.ar.al

The main product they are selling is pretty much the "I was just following orders" excuse, but make it coming from algorithms.

Those products don't even need to work, as long as they spit out "triple tap this school" which gives war pigs a way to claim: "well it wasn't me committing this genocide, it was the computer".

So yeah agreed, fuck y'all there.

@xgranade@wandering.shop I feel exactly the same. I think it's likely a consequence of the whole "let's keep it apolitical", which is in of itself a political statement. I wonder how much of it was premeditated cultural capture given that software's means of production are our brains, so the corpos had to somehow seize those from us. Slop feels like it's the next step, the capture is not just cultural, but also getting folks addicted to this shit, so the means of production are no longer in their control.

@lisamelton@mastodon.social it seems to be caused by https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/38920/changes#diff-edd345ee45838ecdc48d8b64ba5f0d4475300e2cc36e696a937fe012a6e025caL8332 and from the context of the PR it seems that hopefully it is not intentional.

Someone will definitely love me down the line for using `colour` in the path of design tokens.

Nothing beats `background-color: var(--colour-surface-base);`...

Just moved our mastodon's instance to @mastohost@mastodon.social and some random issues I had when self-hosting are gone. 🎉

Thank you @hugo@masto.pt <3

@lisamelton@mastodon.social I do hope so! Hard to say without knowing what's exactly in the designs, but it does look accidental. And all the paragraphs are still there, so it is indeed just css change.

@dale It's really useful, especially after restoring a session with hundreds of tabs and something starts randomly playing in the background. I do think safari's take on it is slightly friendlier from the UX perspective. Basically if any tab is playing it shows a speaker in the url bar (next to translate and refresh). Clicking on it mutes all tabs, but what I find more useful is right-click will list all tabs that are currently playing audio, so you can just close the tab itself.

@Chrishallbeck@mastodon.social I have aphantasia, and the bit about imagining things being a figure of speech was my exact response when I first learned about it and told my firends. 🙈 On the topic, I do think that it's partially responsible for why I'm coding. I wonder if there are any studies on links between aphantasia and abstract thinking.

One thing that I think is somewhat missing from the discourse about governments sharing our data with companies like palantir is that you cannot undo it.

Once you've shared your population data it's done. There's no way back. Sure you can ask them to delete it, but good luck with that.

I'm not sure that the people at large really, really understand implications of that..

Idk.. I find population's medical data in hands of fascists simply terrifying.

@blainsmith@fosstodon.org That's really cool!

And sort of just in time, as we are launching our product soon as well, and it'll be a perfect fit for the marketing and documentation websites. I'll talk to @diemkay@hachyderm.io tomorrow and we'll probably become members. ;)

Today I’ve been looking for a license under which to open source our app.

While doing the research I ran into: https://interoperable-europe.ec.europa.eu/collection/eupl/solution/licensing-assistant/find-and-compare-software-licenses I really enjoyed the ability to compare between the licenses in a way that’s quite easy to understand.

Also I think it’ll be: “Licensed under the EUPL”.

(Why the quotes? That’s how they tell you to use it)

I'm trying to switch from nvim to #helix these days, but the major thing I'm missing is a tree view. Anyone has any good workarounds?

@oppen@merveilles.town I might try to experiment with something like this on landing website for our upcoming project.. but that would also require convincing the rest of the team that putting music there is totally fine, which might be the harder part than shaders themselves... :p
