Saskatchewan and Alberta are all in on datacenters because they can power them with new methane fired power plants.
And to make this more palatable #Carney has declared this "clean" energy. So no need to worry 🙄

The charging was no problem at all. There are two BC Hydro Fast chargers on Haida Gwaii and we also could trickle charge at the air B&B. Coming back down through terrace and Williams lake also no issues. Lots of chargers, all working. All in we spent $192 on public charging. Pretty good for over 3000km.
Compared to even two years ago this is like a dream. You dont really need to think about it any more.
We did the inside passage from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert, then over to Haida Gwaii. The inside passage ferry was really nice and the views incredible. Should be on everyone's bucket list. Haida Gwaii ferry was older and not as nice but still OK.

Canadians are concerned about the changing climate and the resulting droughts, wildfires and floods caused by a warming planet;
The federal government is not addressing the climate crisis in ways that will fundamentally prevent further greenhouse gas emissions

Methane emissions in near real time.
This is really cool that we can see this now.

"He appointed actual "get things done" types rather than favors for donors. "
Im perpetually disgusted by how incompetent most of our politicians are. So when one breaks through who actually WANTS to make government work we are shocked and amazed.. and it seems like it not actually that hard. You just effin get on with it!

The first big decision is what type of inverter to use. The link below is a good explainer. Basically the simplest is a string inverter but for this to be optimal all panels in the string need to all have the same sun exposure. ie unshaded. Its also easiest from A DIY perspective.

Absolutely. My main point was the obvious environmental downside, but also why can't we process this stuff into useful materials? Add value here at home then sell it to the world.

Very cool. A 100% self sustaining transport system.

There is a constant over estimation of how much land area is actually required to power a region with solar.
In is also entirely possible for PV and agro to exist in the same field. They are not mutually exclusive as illustrated by many posts on here in the past few weeks.
It is also not mandatory that every single KWh be generated within a small radius of where it is needed. I mean...instead of in space why not just put them down south??
Anyway, no one is saying the whole world must be solar. There is also wind and geothermal both of which Japan has a huge potential.

Why is Canada always so far behind the curve....They should be suing the bastards.

Have they actually told us what this "hack" actually was? I mean was it a stolen or guessed password or an exploit left open because of a patch not applied, or something else more interesting?

I can understand those outside Canada might have heard the Davos speech and thought, wow, that guy. But back home he has taken a hatchet to every environmental regulation in existance while massively subsidizing and expanding fossil fuel production. This is what we expected from his conservative opponent, not from him.
Prior to getting elected he sold himself as being climate conscious and environmentally aware. Instead we got conservative policies. A million miles from what his party previously stood for.
And he continues to lie. With the wildfires burning he continues to claim that these tar sands policies will fight climate change. Its just bizarre.

We already have have solar power at night in the form of storage and grid interconnections.
My point is it is almost certainly going to be cheaper to build out storage and/or high voltage grid interconnect between sunny and not sunny places than it is to build anything remotely financially viable in space.

Carney is pretty quiet on the issue as well. I suppose he's hoping that buying them another pipeline will shut them up the same way Trudeau did.

I would love to see the business case for something like that. Especially given that we can generate solar electricity so easily right here on the ground.

So my Adobe Illustrator has started crashing for no apparent reason and I cant seem to solve it. I'm a long time user of Illustrator and love its smoothness and ability to save and edit directly in PDF format.
However with this issue I decided to give the open source alternative Inkscape another look. To my surprise it has improved significantly from last time I used it. I think I will stick with it.
What I like most about these programs is how you can grab a bunch of objects and scale them all at once INCLUDING fonts. Try doing that with any MS product and you end up with font wrap collisions everywhere...
