I just heard from someone whose company is hiring, and the recruiter reached out to two candidates *who both were not real people. *
Apparently there's these shops in India or wherever that literally pay workers to send out fake job applications under fake identities.

No tornado, but I have NEVER seen the streets around me this flooded. This happened after 10 mins, max.
We lost power almost an hour ago and it's not back yet. Branches have come off trees. A dude put on garbage bags for waders and drove his car into a higher spot. There are WAVES lapping onto our lot.

So I am roughly 95% towards burnout & super unhappy w/ what my role has become. Started looking around for a new job. Which means I am back in the hell of:
- discovering dozens of Senior Data Analyst roles that are actually Senior Data Eng, or, worse, AI annotation
- Remote and Hybrid roles that aren't
- UNPAID (!) jobs
- being on my eighth Workday account
- Full Time Senior roles that are actually internships
- typing *everything I just uploaded* again, into a JavaScript form from 2009

Follow-up to this, I am noticing that what I gravitate towards more and more is a job that aligns with my values & morals. I want to do at least *some* good in the world - it should be a net positive.
ALSO incredibly hard to find. Nonprofits, charities, green tech, urbanism, anything?
Preferably remote in #Canada, but would consider hybrid in #yeg.

opened it in my browser to get the context, and OH LOOK! a boatload of accounts I had muted a loooooong time ago absolutely treating Chad like a convicted criminal, advising everybody to jump ship IMMEDIATELY, calling him ugly names.

Oh heyyyy so we thought we made it through yesterday's #abstorm unscathed - imagine our surprise when we found out that it had fried our furnace thermostat 😊
We noticed when I tried to force the furnace-fan on after mopping the place, and nothing happened.
At least it's not the furnace. But still. This is one of the many reasons I don't like power outages - they have a habit of frying things.
Wouldn't it suck if people had to do performance review processes that spanned four months of the year (that's a full third...), where they aren't even graded on how well they are fulfilling the requirements of their role, but also against some unknown "going above and beyond" rubric?
And wouldn't it be even suckier if they were ""encouraged"" to use a chatbot for next year's ~~goals~~ based on said review?
Yep. Hypothetically, if anyone was in that situation, that would REALLY SUCK.
OK so don't get me wrong, I really VERY DEEPLY appreciate that they're taking care of our water and making sure it is safe to use, but GOOD LORD when I took a shower this morning I felt like I was at Commonwealth pool with all that chlorine

I've tried Super + period, Super + semicolon (both do nothing), have checked the shortcuts menu for mentions of emoji (none), have installed the Emoji Mart and later Emote flatpaks (they open but won't enter emoji into any text field - may be an X11/Cosmic issue?)

The manholes started doing that thing where they wanted to become geysers; luckily, this has now stopped.
