Any neo-pronouns or he/him if you must. Mid 20s.
Boosts are seldom a reflection of what I think of the person posting (because I don't check unless I see red flags within the post), but usually a reflection of what I think of the post itself.
I'd prefer people I haven't interacted with yet don't tag me out of nowhere (but replies are usually fine). Flirting is okay from mutuals unless they're minors or straight men.

DuckDuckGo is being unsurprisingly unhelpful with this because all results are influencers or brace brands (most of whom don't even specialize in hypermobility or EDS):

  • Can anyone with hEDS or similar show me a shoulder brace that lets them use their arms but protects their shoulders from subluxation? *

I only need pictures, can't afford to buy one myself so I'm gonna try to DIY 😅 additional information also appreciated, I'll be researching anatomy for it too

#hEDS #EDS #hypermobile

@i_give_u_worms @oz1sej @joelle it would leave people no more disengaged than our scrolling habits do. Every time they do a pilot to test UBI, it goes well. Every time. It's not that no one has come up with a practical plan for it, it's that oligarchs would have less power if workers were less desperate.

I think when I flirt with women, especially cis women outside of sapphic specific spaces, they usually just assume I'm being friendly. Once I mentioned a girlfriend and my coworker looked at me with a lot of confusion for a sec before going "OH, you're BI!" 🙄 I don't even like men.

@JustinMac84@mastodon.social @ptoothfish@beige.party Cory Doctorow is fedi infamous for his AI shilling... he talks about the benefits of scraping, and he talks about the benefits of using LLMs in his work. I don't think he's a particularly good source for the point you seem to be trying to make (that scraping is good in some situations and shouldn't be assumed to include LLM training?)

@JustinMac84@mastodon.social I assume @ptoothfish@beige.party meant "scraping in order to plagiarize" like all the AI companies do. Scraping in order to increase access to readers/watchers/etc, in a way that links back to the original source, is more akin to piracy imo

@zed @Stoori @Mimesatwork it's not okay if they *all* have fees, or if it's really hard to find one without. What is someone supposed to do if they don't even have 50 cents? I've had people ask me for a quarter before, and I've avoided being a part of public life myself over costs of about $5. 50 cents may be extremely accessible to you, or to most people even, but not everyone, and personally I'm most concerned about those with nowhere else to go, because if they can't afford any bathroom... 💩🛣️

Is there a term for the section of the web and software that is designed with the user's health and well being in mind? (or at least acts like it, intent isn't particularly important as long as the design ends up being healthy for the user)
Websites that give specific pieces of information immediately, apps that let you quickly get to whatever you opened them for, things that don't glue you to the screen

@cy that's a fair point. I'm not quite convinced you can't talk about covert predation without policing other's language abt overt predation, but I understand the desire for a word. I'm not talking about thoughts 🤦 someone coming up to me to tell me what they want to do to me is not engaging in thought crimes, they are saying words aloud and they are usually making me feel unsafe. Idgaf what someone thinks of me as long as they don't force me to listen to their fantasies of me as a sex object

@kitkat_blue I 100% agree with what you're saying, but I don't think it goes against what @evacide said--threat modeling is harder than it looks because we don't know what and where and why data is being collected about us. No one (here) said it's our fault. It's made so difficult on purpose by evil corporations. The end users aren't to blame for that, and I didn't take "harder than it looks" to assign that blame whatsoever

I don't think setting any minimum age is fair because kids develop at their own paces, but I fear that framing it as an extra vote for the parent will encourage people (especially those with more dehumanizing political opinions who are less likely to care about how much a kid will suffer when they have kids) to just have more kids specifically for political power, the way some people already have more kids for servants

The fines have gotta be sliding scale to work, a huge chunk of their profits. Or they should start dissolving corporations--a human being can be executed for horrible crimes against humanity (which I do not support ftr), so why the fuck can't we "execute" corporations for the same at a much larger scale?

@ghouston@mamot.fr @cy I wouldn't know about your first claim but it does sound plausible. As far as the latter, I've only heard women called creepy if they're sapphic, trans, autistic, or "ugly" (usually combinations thereof)--the average woman flirting with a man who's sexually interested in women will not be considered creepy, because patriarchy sees women as a sexual commodity for men. So many will see that as "yay, free sex!" (and others will shame her for being "slutty" but not "creepy")

@cy I'm using it in the colloquial sense, behavior that sexualizes someone without their consent and is likely to make them uncomfortable. I'm sure creepy used to mean people who did it slowly, but that's not how it's always used now, and that's not the most common use I've seen for it. Hate it all you want, use the term however you see fit, but language evolves and you can't stop it from doing so without having more control over other people than anyone should ever have.

@quinn @GustavinoBevilacqua with that in mind, I'd say pretty much *anything else* we do to protect kids from these corporations (and other bad actors online) would have the added benefit of protecting adults, too. Most of the ways kids can get hurt and used online are happening to people of all ages, and we all deserve protection from it. Just shunning kids protects no one, not even the kids because they'll just find ways around it because they feel left out of the torment nexus adults frequent

I wanna make sure that I follow all the rules the kids have to unless there's a really good reason why there's a double standard (eg "I can use knives because I know how to be safe with them" or "I can be in the office because I won't take other people's belongings and get food all over them or throw them")
That "do as I say, not as I do" bullshit did nothing but set up a hierarchy of hypocrisy

I learned the very very basic building blocks, experimented on my own for a decade or two, and then once I finally sat down to learn more of the official strategies people teach each other, I was already using most of them. Everything I've learned explicitly about music theory I was already implementing in my songs. Most fancy knitting techniques I had already figured out myself from knit, purl, and slip
