There are already services that leverage peoples' wifi scanners to put every id they scan into a database with location info that others can then access and track ids. There are publicly available versions of this in the form of those apple tags or whatever but these services can track the bluetooth ids of the tire monitors in your car or anything else you carry with you.

They hired a pretty smart black guy to work with him but nobody listens to a damn thing he says until other guy just totally disappears. You can see the animosity as he clears the guy's desk. They could have hired a massive team of very brilliant people but that dude was always going to fuck it up...on purpose even. For all we know, they did...but they're redundant so why bother showing them.

My theory is that this is actually all just training for the overwatch AI. Be much harder to train AI on the chaos of watching people mill about than on the flow channeled and logged activities of account recovery and "validated ID". Make it better. Make it recognize my face and then it can track anyone's.

AFAICT the only thing it might do is destroy all evidence the source material ever existed so nobody can prove they violated copyright. Copyright as originally designed was important and kept the printing presses from just stealing everyone's work. It's since become the Mickey Mouse law and inverted its original purpose, directly countering its designers intent (US anyway). Jefferson formulated what should be the duration of a copyright.

Informant was a willing part of that in that they sent the message, but wasn't at the ambush and didn't take part directly. Maybe you have some moral calculus that says they're not guilty of anything but the law is not going to agree. Information given was to cause a particular outcome.

There's a bunch of this sort of thing that happens before any silicon is made. Takes a long time and is thus very expensive. Described situation was a demo during research phase sounds like. I hope they'd have found this before it made to production but yeah, no guarantees.
