Luna Dragofelis, a transgender and transspecies median plural system of feminine meltcats, autistic and ADHD, living in Augsburg, Germany. Interests: Computers, programming, transportation, video games, politics (from a left wing perspective) and more. Inhabiting my current body since the year 2000. Not an age cop. Body is mixed race black. Anti-suffering. Sometimes suicidal.
Me boosting something doesn't mean I wholly agree with it, it means some of my followers might find it interesting. Trying my very best to be responsive to feedback - tell me if anything bothers you or seems to bother others. I occasionally post or boost lewd stuff (with CW), interact with that at your own discretion. I'm always happy about friendly attention.

Today, by reading that thread, I learned that a (accessibility compliant) website has BETTER usability for screenreader users than for sighted users, because the screenreader exposes *more* semantic information and navigation options to the user than the browser does in sighted-user mode.
For example showing a list of headings and jumping to them instantly, without having to manually scroll all the way down if the website author hasn't explicitly put a table of contents on the page.
Imagine if we designed things to be actually usable well for EVERYONE. (insert utopia.jpg)

I just now realized why there are table of contents at the beginning of some blog posts. Sighted folk don’t have a way to jump to the first heading level 3 on the page, nor do they have the capability of bringing up a list of headings on the page and then jumping to a chosen heading the way we do. Gods, how do you all use such a limited form of navigation? I would think scrolling would get tiresome after a while. #WebDev

My proposal for a species transition terminology: SRT = Species Replacement Therapy (probably some kind of extensive live gene modification treatment)

@hellomiakoda@pdx.social my current phone doesn't have a headphone jack anymore. But headphone adapter goes brrrrrrrrr (I even deliberately chose an adapter with a passthrough charging port so I can charge and use headphones at the same time)

Looking for facial hair removal advice 🔄✅
Yesterday I went to a hair removal studio which have both the equipment for laser and electrolysis, for a consultation, and the worker (not sure if owner or employee) recommended me electrolysis instead of laser, she claimed laser is not very reliable at permanency and might have hair come back even stronger after as little as six months.
Is this true or is she just trying to upsell me for profit? I do have the budget for the electrolysis, I prioritize the treatment with the most permanent effect.

@DaedalousEros@fedi.raccoonden.moe whew, I keep hearing about such shitty setups
in Germany that's not the norm, the norm here is that every tenant has their own contract with an ISP, and can choose between different ISPs, and the ISP who owns the last mile is legally required to rent it out to any other ISP who wants to serve a customer at that location.

Youtube lately seems to be tightening the thumbscrews on people trying to avoid paying for premium on Android.
Newpipe gets a steadily increasing rate of HTTP 403 errors, and the mobile website constantly tries to pause the video if played in the background, and succeeds about once per minute despite the use of a dedicated Firefox extension (without the extension it triggers pretty much immediately).
Fuck crapitalism.

meltcat biology (weird to humans), reproduction, mutual feeding
I recently made the realization that meltcat slime (meltcat body in melted state) might not be a distinct substance from meltcat milk or meltcat "cum" (their reproduction works different anyway)
That means they just feed each other with basically their own liquified meat, technically an exotic form of cannibalism. (They probably need to have evolved strong natural defenses against prion disease.)
Their reproduction works by mixing together multiple meltcats' slimes. Can be two meltcats but also three, four or more. The mixing can happen in a separate container but probably works better inside the enclosure of a meltcat body, similar to a womb. The pregnant meltcat can choose whether and how much to contribute their own slime to the mix.

Suicide
For like the past eight years, "suicidal" has been my baseline. If you were to offer me a lethal poison pill, I would always be "hell yeah thank you" and the only difference between days would be whether I'd instantly swallow it, or save it for until I have done a little celebration of it being the last day of having to endure this life in a body of the wrong gender and species on a world full of evil, greedy and hateful people who are in power over me and everyone else.

soccer related, mildly interesting thing about where I live
Tomorrow there's a national soccer game about 1.5 kilometers from my home. Germany is playing against Greece in the Nations League. I only know because I walked past the bus stop on my way to the pharmacy and bakery, and the electronic departure board showed a marquee about how to get to that game on public transport: with the special service tram line 8, however that number is barely used towards passengers and it's usually called the "arena line" or indicated with a ⚽ symbol on passenger facing information.

@HypnoDrooling@plush.city Do you think it would be a "best of both worlds" idea to do laser for the bulk and electro for the fine work? I have medium dark skin and black hairs (which makes the shadow after shaving especially bad, I think I wouldn't mind white/clear hairs under the skin nearly as much because they wouldn't be as visible).
The laser machine at the studio does have a NdYag mode, which I've heard is better for darker skin, they state the model on the website and the manufacturer website of the machine says that model does have both NdYag and Alexandrite modes.

@wyatt@soc.megatokyo.moe In my egg days when I first thought about naming my fursona, I named her Mina, which *did* start with the same letter as my deadname. When I realized my fursona's name doesn't need to be related to my "real" name (still deep in the eggshell) I renamed her to Luna in a full moon night looking out of the window. Soon after that I created my Twitter account, and following the old "don't use your real name on the internet" advice I named it after my fursona.
By the time I realized I'm transgender, I was already widely using the name Luna online, and my fursona was what I wanted to be in real life anyway (transspecies), so I just took that as my real chosen name then. And since last year that name is also government recognized.

about felony disenfranchisement
Regarding the whole bullshit concept of felony disenfranchisement:
Here in Germany, almost* all prisoners are allowed to vote if they meet the general eligibility criteria (adult, German citizen). They will then vote by mail. And nobody even considers to restrict their voting rights after they completed their sentence.
- = there's a very small number of crimes that can temporarily remove voting rights, that's election manipulation, treason and taking bribes. Not even for those crimes it's automatic, as far as I know.

If we're already going to keep copyright, there really should be a legally protected right to create derivative works so that independent artists and creators aren't forced to always start from zero. Let people legally make their own Pokémon romhacks.

@whitequark@social.treehouse.systems @aeva@mastodon.gamedev.place it's a very simple and minimal language that still has all the necessary building blocks to build anything more complex on top of it, except for multi-threading.
(Fun fact: if Lua did have multi-threading, I would probably not be developing #Kittyscript, or it would be a Lua precompiler)
