Happy #Caturday! Cal was just all over me for some reason. In a perfect display of cat behavior: first I was just minding my own business and he hopped up into my lap and started purring and bumping my face. I got out my phone to take a selfie with him.
After I took one good photo, he licked and then bit my nose. Then he tried to fit inside the new basket I put on my little bookshelf. When that failed, he stood and whined at me for a minute, until I told him to fork off, and then he jumped over my lap to the end table on my left where I have notebooks stacked, and he, I kid you not, swatted the top book so it fell on the dog who was laying next to my chair.
Opinion registered, he hopped down and sauntered off.

My regular reminder that ThriftBooks(.com) is a thing, and they are still, from what I understand, a really good company. I've been buying from them for years and love their prices and customer service. Shipping speed is good too!
I also love how I can get hardbacks that come from libraries. It reminds me of that freshly discovered joy as a kid, where you realize you can TAKE THE BOOKS HOME. :) It's also nice to feel like you're giving them an extra life after they've retired from their library gig.

Sometimes I post something funny about the dogs and then a few new people follow me, and I worry they're assuming I post dog content all day. Which I don't. But maybe I should.

Finn: Twelve bicyclists have gone past the house in the last hour. They were all going too fast and making too much noise. One definitely smelled weird. Also their legs move in ways I don't completely understand and I'm thinking about inquiring as to an ordinance that would require everyone going past the house to walk their bikes. Maybe include an additional clause about taking off hats. The hats are both frightening and offensive.

We're going on a little family holiday soon and Jupes wanted a new journal to write/art in for the trip. I made them this last night, they picked the colors. Then I made myself one. Then I drew Jupiter's book inside my book. Jupes said this is journal-ception.
French stitch is still my favorite by far. Coptic is basically dead to me, lol.

My Dad sent me this, it's my Aunt and Uncle on their boat, the Barnestormer, heading to the race. I assume from Dad's comment "headed to victory" that they won, which is not uncommon. They have been racing for ...55 years? I have no interest in racing, I'm basically a hobbit on my boat, I used to take her out and just make tea and sit around waiting for wind to appear. World's Laziest Sailor. The fastest I'd move was to get out of other peoples' way, lol.
I could never be bothered to acquire a spinnaker, but they sure are pretty (the billowy sail out in front).

@gregtitus@social.coop Oh my gosh! On Lehua! Yeah I think that was why I decided not to have a spinnaker again, I'm remembering trying to get it up without dunking it in the Sound, man that was a lot of work.
And then I asked Dad why we needed one and he was like, "to go faster" and you and me were like, "MEH".

@Xavier@infosec.exchange I'm Gen X but not an electronics geek. I've tried dabbling in basic electronics (I like ham radio), but had a couple bad experiences in a row (one was a "for total beginners" online class that wasn't).
I was checking to see who else besides me used the #ThriftBooks hashtag today and found your post and now I have a copy of Getting Started in Electronics ordered from Thrift Books. :)
