Eventually found the link in the article by randomly jabbing my finger around the first paragraph in section 8 as you indicated.
The way this page is displayed on my phone screen there is nothing about the words 'opt out' to indicate they are link text.

At dinner yesterday my son mentioned a job he was managing at a local reservoir. I was aware of the reservoir but also knew that few people in the area knew about it. Inaccessible and hidden away the covered drinking water facility isn't even particularly visible on satellite images.
Part of the job would include draining it and as we lived nearby we were curious where it drained to. He was aware that the drainage arrangements of some of these older reservoirs could be a little random.
Trying to find out a bit more I did a search. My usual search engine of choice wasn't very helpful so tried Google.
Of course it offered up an #AI overview, which initially indicated it no longer existed. A later search said that it did exist. The difference between the two searches was the capitalisation of the name of the reservoir.
If anyone needed convincing that AI is a cockamamie pile of shit I offer this evidence.

Disappointingly Steve Rose does not mention Mastodon in the social networking section.
Would also add ditching the Amazon Kindle for a Kobo ereader is a good choice.
Jolla phones with the #SailfishOS is a good iPhone/Android substitute.

A lot of people seem to think that just because they can visit most websites for free there are no costs associated with having a website. Presumably he resents having to pay for a domain name, hosting and website design and setup.
Won't harm to have a backup of his site for him should he get a suitable hosting of his own.

When I was in the process of removing corporations such as Amazon from my life the last bit to go was the Kindle. Moved over to #Kobo ereader and have liked it.
Have used bookshop.org occasionally.
Charity shops can be great but they don't always have what you want. The online Oxfam shop is great for UK readers happy to buy secondhand books, as well as lots of other stuff

My eyes were immediately drawn by the unusual spelling at the end of that paragraph.
So chuse instead of choose is not a spelling mistake or typo. An accepted alternative spelling. Strange that the chap (Jacob Shallus) who committed it to paper used both spellings in different places.

I have installed sailfishOS onto a phone and am happy with it. Unfortunately the pixel phone is not listed as one that has been tried on the Jolla site. It *might* work if you feel like being a pioneer.

There are *some* worthwhile uses of AI such as analysing satellite images to rapidly identify areas of active deforestation.

Among my many roles was IT rep and general trouble shooter and sorter out of disasters.
I would always strongly advocate robust backup strategies for data which included NOT relying on external drives or systems like DropBox.
This #AI enshitification is going to push people back to using unreliable systems.
Recall a research group that nearly lost many years of data in a bizarre Dropbox client meltdown that wiped the data from the store and any computers that connected to it. Luckily the group contacted a member who had not logged in and got them to remove the ethernet cable before login. They managed to rescue most of their data from that machine which had cached it locally.
Don't know exactly what happened to the system, but it scared them off using it again

All the sites I've ever had hosted have had automated processes which I assume will dump the content if I don't pay up in time, although you could be soft and keep a backup/export.

It doesn't have much volume. Just a convenient header tank style arrangement to allow the area to be gravity supplied to get the pressure for ready to drink water.
Was fascinating to see how the system works on the overview on the Severn Trent system on my sons phone. He can also tap into and control the various pumps and valves. Part of his job is to get more of the valves, pumps and pressure gauges replaced with ones that can communicate and be controlled. A lot still need someone to drive out with a big spanner to do things.

That's the one. Apparently he has found a note that the last time the reservoir was drained Bramcote roundabout was flooded. Someone is probably going to have to dig out original plans to work out the drainage.
