Jack has just over an hour to make it to Check Point 4, as the only NB participant I've been following their steady progress. I don't think they'll make it, and I do hope they'll continue their trip outside General Classification 💪🦵🚵 #tcrno12cap52 #tcrno12 #tcr12

Just visited an online PC mag on a different phone, it has a adblocker detector which swaps away from the article to a page that begs you to turn of your adblocker. Unsurprisingly, it works fine when I have all JavaScript disabled, like I have by default on my main phone #privacy #adblocker

@paninid@mastodon.world I just realised, I have Wikipedia articles I created that older than some of my colleagues

It is just me seeing it, and do we have an influx of accounts on mastodon.social in the last week of no pfp sockpuppet accounts who are only posting 1 complaint as their only reply/post #sockpuppet #sockpuppetry

@giggls@karlsruhe-social.de I spotted that, I wondered what was happening there

It seems this video was taken down, and videos referencing it were copyright struck. It seems some billionaires don't want you to know about this

Some months ago a friend told me that there wouldn't be any gravity for 7 seconds next Wednesday. Because I forget stuff like this I put it in my calendar. When I asked them about this, they don't recall saying it Does anyone happen to know when these 7 seconds will be? I have a heavy box I want to bring up 2 flights of stairs and want to make sure that I optimally use the period. Does anyone also know whether these are contiguous, because I would hate to be having a shower and have the bathroom covered in water, just because we had 2 seconds without gravity while I was in the shower

Some apps don't understand that sometimes people don't have internet, or worse the internet is intermittent. Having failovers for this case is hugely important, it will get worse before it gets better. Caching (ingress and egress) helps a little, as well as telemetry, when it's opted in to And nothing helps as much as planning for what the failure states can be. Try out the app that you build without internet, turn off the internet while the app is busy. Just responding to the user of the app that the Network is out, especially when the app could failover and chooses not to, is extremely frustrating This message is brought to you by me pulling my hair out at a failing app, even tho there was internet it didn't work until I killed the app and started it again

I was watching Nish interviewing James Acaster on a podcast last week. One of them, I think Nish, said something that really stuck with me. I'll paraphrase, when someone is doing something you or someone you knows doesn't or didn't enjoy, just say: *I'm happy for you." Don't yuck their yum.

When you access to healthcare is so poor that you are forced to look outside of the subsidize healthcare in your country. That's not the fault of the healthcare scammers! Have a little look at why your healthcare is so poor that people are being driven into the hands of potential scammers The same is true for many other scams, usually it's driven by the product being unavailable or unaffordable in your country, or by people not being educated, it's not the fault of the person being scammed. It's really the problem with society that we blame victims, while big organisations—not scammers—take advantage of people. Scammers are filling the niche in the free market, even if it's fake, it's still the free market working as intended (or broken as intended, take your pick) Kurkumakuur tegen kanker? I was approached by a student collecting sign ups for a charity on the street. Thier charity is collecting money for women suffering violence. I said: "I'd love to give money, but I don't have any money to spare right now, all my money is going to grassroots efforts in Gaza." Them: "Do you support violence against women then?" If you aren't even even going to listen to what I'm saying, I can't help you. Me: "Of course not!" They continue: "We can only accept donations from people who are older than 30, you look young. Can I ask your age?" Who are you kidding I said: "29, so I'm too young," and walked away.

No, Elektor! I don't need another project…
