If you're in England, your #NHS medical data is due to be shared with #PeterThiel's military surveillance firm #Palantir.

Fyi, Palantir have already been using their access to US medical records to target people for #ICE, and #ReformUK have published their plans for ICE UK...

In case you — like me — object to this in the strongest of terms, the @goodlawproject@mastodon.world have put together this handy tool to check your local NHS Trust's position, and to say no to this.

https://notopalantir.goodlawproject.org/email-to-target/stop-palantir-in-the-nhs/

Hopefully see many of you at #Kollapscamp next month! I'll be both holding a workshop and giving an evening talk.

From 5–9 August, people are gathering in Kuhlmühle (northern Brandenburg) to address the unfolding crises and disasters in solidarity, instead of paralysis.

Loads of hands-on workshops (from first aid to crisis radio to dealing with fear), plus networking, panels, talks, cinema, a collective kitchen, concerts … all funded on a solidarity basis ✊️

@Karen5Lund@mastodon.social @vaurora@mstdn.social @effy@social.effy.space My family's from Liverpool, and in that dialect "dead" means "very". As in "I got this top dead cheap — I love it!" I once signed off an email to a (non Liverpudlian) girl I really fancied with "Hopefully see you dead soon". It took me ages to realise... ☠️

@leighms@mastodonapp.uk @Silversnapples@mastodonapp.uk Hi Leigh, under "8. Can I opt my data out? If so, how?" the article gives this more straightforward link to both options: https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/about-the-nhs/opt-out-of-sharing-your-health-records/ But I highly recommend checking out the context in the article too rather than going straight there, since while I opted out in both ways myself some time ago, it might not be in everyone's interests to do so ✊🏼

"Anyone who tells you that taking time for joy is a distraction has no idea what they are talking about. … during the darkest days of the AIDS crisis we buried our friends in the morning, we protested in the afternoon, and we danced all night, and it was the dance that kept us in the fight because it was the dance we were fighting for." ~ Dan Savage

@baillehache_pascal And I literally just discovered this: "Mandelbrot was a bit of a rebel in the mathematical community ... He also added the middle initial ‘B’ to his name himself, even though it did not actually stand for anything." (https://math-soc.com/biographies/benoit-mandelbrot/ ) So I think this was actually HIS joke! Or maybe he just set it up and left it out there for someone to discover, just like he found fractals waiting out there in the universe ⚡️ This man was a DUDE!!!

Benoît Mandelbrot (1924–2010) is the father of fractal geometry, the man who proved that nature isn’t just a series of blurry shapes but a never-ending loop of complexity. He discovered the incredible Mandelbrot set, one of the maths world’s most famous fractals. Abir G If you have ever looked at a head of Romanesco broccoli […]

@Em0nM4stodon@infosec.exchange Because BigTech have carefully ensured that the devil's in the default. It's taken me a whole lot of time to DEdefault all our comms tech. Totally agree it's deeply worthwhile and ultimately necessary, but activists tend to be busy folk doing our thing. The harder I work at one thing, the unluckier I get at all the things I haven't made time for!

@ApostateEnglishman I guess I'd be ashamed too if I in any way identified with the monarchy or the British state. To my eyes, as an Englishman, both are representatives of the hierarchy of scumbags who #enclosed the commons that our ancestors lived off, driving them from the land of their birth. Which leaves my feelings more an intensification of the desire to be rid of the lot of them than any kind of personal shame. #lovemynationhatemystate

But now leveraging my wildcard far more powerfully. Thank you! ❤️

"There’s an atmosphere of suspended animation. The world still seems normal.

...We can’t even hear the words of the head of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde:
“We are in for a real shock that is probably beyond what we can imagine at the moment.”

...We’re already in an information crisis, a democracy crisis, a worldwide populist insurgency.

Now add a global economic shock - the biggest one ever, according to the International Energy Agency - into the mix."
