XD But absolutely, it came out swinging with Janeway and the first thing she did was make Maquis fighters key members of her crew, one of which was a Hispanic half-Klingon. They also had a Black Vulcan (ironically, not his first time playing one, but canonically a different character), a disgraced pilot, and a virtual doctor who very much wanted to be turned off when not in use at first. The whole premise of the show started with "get along or else."

@petitmote @isotopp Wind can be very clean as well. And small wind at scale is absolutely an option. We could have generators powered by fluttering material lining the side of every bridge, vertical turbines catching turbulence made purely out of metal, etc. If you want to talk about energy waste, please understand that craptocurrency single-handedly undid a decade of progress and slop is somehow even worse than that, mostly at the training phase! The US military is also the biggest single waster in the world and frankly for what? Then consider the rich and their private jets because the rich simply pay not to wait for anything. It's not the average person who needs to use so much less; it's the greedy few. Anything we can do as harm reduction is a plus. Harm reduction is knowing there WILL be harm and mitigating it. I mean, eat the rich, but in the meantime, cleaner energy is better than nothing. In that light, we can maybe afford a little solar, as a treat.

Nintendo has released a trailer for a new StarFox game. They're calling it... StarFox.

Which makes it the fourth go at this game specifically, the fourth reboot of the original, a base-title reboot that's going to require the year in parentheses, and the first attempt to look remotely realistic since the original puppets.

So.

#Yarbo just served a security function. There was a raccoon poking around the cat house and thanks to Yarbo, that raccoon is probably going to reconsider that. The cat food is safely inside. The kitty cam light is off, signaling the kitties not to come. Nobody was hurt. The whole thing was zero contact.

Raccoons are naturally skittish and they hate stuff like dogs, so Yarbo got to play the role of a guard dog for a bit.

Hey, so... I have a friend asking about installing #Mint and this is not something I can really help her with, being a Windows guy. Would someone be willing to take her under their wing for this?

Edit: So I'm seeing End of 10 recommended and it looks like it could be ideal if only anything were nearby.

So maybe a better question would be this: would it potentially be a better idea to just run something like Partition Magic and dual boot her for a bit? Because I can install an OS. I may not have installed anything but Windows, but I can blow away a partition. Unless you just heard lightning strike for this poor fool, I could probably manage that much. I just have concerns about her files.

Edit 2: At this point she is… not encouraged by any of this, or what I was able to Google up for the forums. I recommended Xtra-PC because that may be paid, but it has a support line. Y'all mean well, but she needs that sense of security.

OMG, I was just reviewing near the end and it collided in my head that Celsius really needs to stop tempting fate, because the same shit happens at the end of book 3.

Here I was just being like, "ooh, yeah, twist that knife" and then burst out laughing because it's like, "damn, this is your fault, actually." XD

I'd do something for the end of book 2, but we'll say it's inappropriate because of the beginning of book 3.

Please read all 3 books in order to give yourself more time than I just did. XD

@fluffy Come within 3 Dachshunds of me and say that! XD But no, Americans use metric all the time. Just for smaller-scale things, mostly. A meter and a yard are so close we just use yards and kilometers are less used than miles, but every socket set you can buy comes with metric, every ruler or measuring stick, and we even use 1L bottles when a pint is almost exactly the same. People give you side-eye if you start talking about mass, though, since that's used pretty much exclusively for drugs, prescribed or otherwise. Yes, even kilos.

@thevhswizard Totally possible; just include the world name. This will be part of a composite primary key and define a separate area of the dex for each source. You can forget about any kind of unified dex outside of series, but by splitting it out by world (series name?) you can avoid conflicts. The rest is as simple as including the individual graphics. GIF allows for easy palette swapping (or at least that's what I use with indexed palettes).

@TechConnectify This convinced me it was finally the year I'd put up a string of Christmas lights around the front window. I just pre-ordered 2 of the 5-color lights for next year (those were my childhood here in WI) and bought a string each of blue and white. I have a... complicated relationship with Christmas, a lot of it around decorating. But it's been some years now since I played with the idea of putting up a single string of lights, just to have something. This year I upgraded to toying with a bare tree, and this vid gave me a solid small business to support and a call to action to do it. Thank you. You really don't know what that means to me.

I swear to God, Licorice has to be THE stupidest cat in the neighborhood if not county. No schedule whatsoever, only comes to check once a night, and utterly lacks the curiosity to figure out the food is on the upper deck of the cat house because there was just loads and loads of it on the inside during winter because I can't see in there. (They were messy, messy eaters and were not eating it as fast as I was pouring it onto the empty plate.)

I have at this point tried to coax this idiot up top with tuna, but I have no guarantee I got to it fast enough to maybe warrant a second check.

The electron cloud is really a set of probabilities for where an electron might be and a molecule is held together by that. We experience the universe at a scale where we're blind to it all being held together by countless instances of opposing forces and shared possibilities. Electrons move down the outside of a wire at the speed of honey. Our own bodies are unstable Carbon-14 constantly emitting radiation and somehow women emit more than men. When we die, that very moment is preserved in half-lives that could allow others countless generations in the future to know when. Half-lives of our atoms spitting out bits of themselves beyond the forces that bind. The fact that it's mostly empty space is just the doorstep to understanding what a miracle it feels like that any of this works at all.
