The video game mechanic I would most like to apply to real life is choosing how long you’re going to stay asleep for.

Hers and hers bento today. Quickly improvised this one from freezer stash to feed us both me and @katemorley@hachyderm.io
Dry curry and rice, edamame gyoza, carrot kinpira and sugar snaps. Sauce for the gyoza in the dinky carrot shaped bottles.
Today’s lunches for me and @katemorley@hachyderm.io
Rice with edamame, carrot pancake, broccoli and teriyaki tofu.
Me and @katemorley@hachyderm.io are celebrating our anniversary today so I was going to kiss her anyway.
But now I have to.
I wonder how climate change effects the ghost population.
Wait, I probably need to explain this a bit more don’t I?
When I did the ghost tour in Exeter they told us about a ghostly carriage that appears in the first snow of the year.
We just don’t get snow that often anymore.
So what has become of the weather-dependent spookies?
And, of course, no morning history stumble around Exeter can be complete without a pilgrimage to the world’s oldest cat flap.
(Also three fire extinguishers that never appeared in the news articles)
Leftover bento with bits from the last two days: onigiri with pickled greens, broccoli, teriyaki tofu and corn.
Keeping it simple today with Onigiri stuffed with yakitori (vegan chicken leftover from yesterday) and veggie sides: peppers, sugar snap peas and carrot kinpira.
I’d love to put together a collection of short stories from the perspective of side characters in epic fantasies.
What does the guy trying to muck out the horses think?
Admittedly this is probably one of those Sunday morning thoughts that goes nowhere.
No idea why @katemorley@hachyderm.io and I can’t sleep in the mornings anymore but it does give us time for extra tea. In this case a beautiful Chinese White Tea.
What do you mean I’m working in person for a fourth day this week?
Quickie lunch then of yakisoba. This is a dryer version from the book Effortless Bento that reccomend chopping the noodles to make it neater to eat.
Turns out E. E. Cummings wrote a poem about Pinsir:
‘The perpendicular lips the insane teeth
The vertical grin’
Who knew?
I keep telling people I have normal interests but I just went to pick up a book I’d ordered and was told it had been in the shop so long they never thought they would sell it.
Grave poem:
So be my passing! done
My task accomplished and the long day
My wages taken and in my heart
Some late lark singing
Let me be gathered to the quiet west
The sundown splendid and serene
DEATH
I’m reading Gentian Hill by Elizabeth Goudge because it is set around the local medieval chapel that I’m obsessed with and talks a lot about the legend associated with it.
I was expecting that I’d like that part of it.
But I’ve also found out a few new dialect words, the rules of Devon Wrestling and that there is/was a healing well in Torquay.
Books really do have everything.
Currently being emotionally destroyed by the game Consume Me.
I thought I was over my late teenage stress by this point in my life but it brought it all back (in a good way)
Just bumbling around Exeter on my day off. I’m going to poke at some history that I’ve either never seen before or only looked at when I first moved down here (and now can’t remember)
Found on a signpost in Portree.
And you know what, I have always wanted to visit Baden-Württemberg.
I’ve fallen in love with Mixtape (on Switch 2)
Making me nostalgic for a time when I thought I knew everything and constantly worried I was a poseur.
The soundtrack is genuinely amazing, it’s super stylish but what I’m really loving is the sense of humour. The tongue in cheek affection it has for teenage life.
I’m loving InKombini. It’s like it has distilled all the enjoyable parts of customer service without the annoying bits.
Their’s and Her’s cozy gaming on a Saturday Morning.
I’m on Pokopia, @katemorley@hachyderm.io is playing Winter Burrow.
Odd that the post apocalyptic game is the less depressing one.
The Exeter Catacombs where all of 11 people were buried. Not one came to haunt me (offensive)
I’ve just discovered that when you put a balloon down in Pokopia it makes the sound of a balloon inflating.

Game of The Year
Touring a former Benedictine Priory turned Tudor Manor House for serious historical study reasons and not because of this mural of a beast with a flower growing out of it’s arse.
I’m certainly in a mood. What with touring local historic building and reading about medieval women.
So I’m playing Pentiment again, which might just be my favourite game ever.
Friday I was stuck in traffic by some Bronze Age Barrows and I couldn’t persuade my colleague to be interested.
Today we drove past on the way home so I tried again:
‘Look at the bumps, they have dead bodies.’
‘Cool.’
‘They’re like boobies but with bodies in.’
‘Why didn’t you explain it like that on Friday?’
(Nobody needs to point out that this isn’t exactly an accurate description)
