Xoa Gray
mastodon 4.7.3Probably one of the grayer characters around the interwebs. Been around for about half a century, been furry for around 35 years of that time. Grew up in a small town in western NY, but I've lived in a few different places around the east coast and mid west. Even Alaska for a little while.
I'm into photography, digital and more recently getting back into film. writing, and a bit of a stationary nerd, but not too bad. I also like cars, and alternative transportation. So yes I zip around on an electric scooter, but don't worry, I still get a little shiver when I hear a nice V8. Computers, I'm an avid Linux and Mac user, and video gamer. There's more, and maybe I'll add to this later, till then, if you want to know, ask. :)
I just noticed my boyfriend left a fuzzy little something on my desk. :)
That moment you quietly realize that every "ai" ceo either has AI psychosis, or wants everyone around them to have ai psychosis. It's the only way to have the kind of blind devotion to this mostly useless software that they have.
@mynameistillian@plush.city This is kinda' cool, first wild tiger in Kazakhstan in 70 years. :)
Buying a Commodore 64 Ultimate because you want a computer to use that isn't going to require age verification or for you to give up your ID, or use face recognition to use it.
Picking up older systems like the PS2 or Game Cube so you can play games without having to go online.
The way forward may just be by going backward in some ways. Because everything is so fucking upside down anymore that this is just where we are.
Just had that moment where I see someone post that has the same name as someone I knew that passed away a while ago. For just a second I was excited. I know they're gone, but seeing their name pop up again made it feel like they weren't for just a second.
It's strange how the mind works sometimes.
RE: @FoxesInLove@social.neonpaws.digital
I have to admit this did not go the direction I was thinking at the start. It's pretty relatable though. Heh. :)
If you live in the US and are in a place where the drivers are typically pretty bad, here's your final reminder to go out and do your shopping for the weekend so you don't have to be out on the road with all the maniacs.

I have a genuine interest in cryptozoology. I've been interested in it for a long time. Everything from the Loch Ness Monster to Big Foot. But my interest is in the actual scientific study and research of the stories and any actual physical / photo / video evidence that creatures outside what we know exist.
I approach cryptozoology largely in regard to either animals that are real, that we don't know about yet. Or as animals that existed at one time, but may or may not be exist now.
One of my favorite modern cryptids for example is the Thylacine. (My character Ozo is one of these.) This was a real animal that lived in recent times. As little as around 100 years ago. We have photos and video of these animals alive. The last known confirmed example of the species was an animal that died at the Hobart zoo on Septermber 7th, 1936, most commonly referred to as "Benjamin". But we continue to hear stories of people seeing them today. And from time to time some evidence comes through that may support their continued existence.
But along with that potentially credible evidence comes a slew of blurry photos, questionable eye witness accounts, and very shaky evidence. As well as people that just try to capitalize the hype around cryptozoology, trying to make the search for these creatures more like a reality TV show than actual research. Where people are eager to front even the most shaky evidence as proof. Hoping the viewer will know so little about the subject that they'll just be dazzled instead of recognizing for example the "thylacine" is a fox with a bad case of mange or a limp. It leads to all cryptozoology having a high noise to signal ratio, and degrades the real research, making cryptozoologists and those interested in the field look like crackpots.
The following is colorized video and a photo of one of the last Thylacines ever held in captivity.

Wow, the RAM crisis is so bad that Microsoft is deleting guidance that 32gb is the recommended amount for Windows 11, and are going to be selling surface laptops with 8gb of ram.
Honestly, 16gb is the bare minimum for any modern OS. Unless you're running a specifically minimalist OS for some specific thing.
This is all in reaction to the fact that the vast majority of memory production capacity is sold out until at least 2028. So there's comparatively very little left for computers and products not aimed at "AI".
And as you probably expect, I hate this. It legit feels like if you own a computer with a decent amount of ram in it, it's worth holding onto it even if it's older because it's better to be a little slower than starved for ram.
I'm such a font of typos right now. New devices learning how I swipe type. Sorry for all the random misspellings.
This sucks, but it's so nice to hear someone else say it for a change. Our own apathy is our worst enemy, and it has been for decades. It's why gaming, and so many other things tech related are in such a bad place right now. So many people that are totally unwilling to say "No, we don't want this and we won't buy your shit till you stop" and sticking to it.
PlayStation petition is proving Sony Right
I've had a Steam Controller for about 2 months now, and I have to say, it's really something. Using it with the puck it's very low latency. The difference is definitely noticeable compared to any other controller I've used. Even the Xbox Series X with it's dongle wasn't this responsive.
it's like going from a large family sedan to a Miata. The reaction time and handling are vastly better. At least as far as using them wirelessly is concerned. I barely ever use my controllers wired anymore, but I'd imagine plugged in to USB the difference is a lot less if anything at all.
So this is interesting. On iOS you can download Retroarch for your phone or tablet and it'll be the actual emulator. You do that on the Android App store and it'll be an app full of ads.
Good job Google.
The more I mess with Fitbit, the more disappointed I am in what Google has done to their app.
It used to be really good for tracking calories, but since Google took it over, it seems like a lot of the things that were in their food data base are just gone. I'm actually going back to recording my stuff on paper because it's just easier.
The tracker is great, but the app is just one letdown after another. They should have left FitBit alone, they've really fucked it up. :(
Very cool, we may have found the first evidence of an actual wormhole.
Have We Finally Found a Real Wormhole?
Some just phenomenal DOOM Eternal play.
