@TreeVor@dice.camp @Lana@beige.party it often preached better than it practiced, but it *did* preach it.

@lejapproach@social.anoxinon.de @Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt yeah, this video but with cats would *definitely* be AI... ;-)

@fabio@manganiello.eu I’m fairly sure some of my most productive days had a negative LOC count.

@cstross@wandering.shop the sky's gone the colour of a *90s* tv tuned to an empty channel? 😉

@wwahammy @k3ym0 “that’s not my department,” says Werner von Braun….

@bicebird@toot.wales @Daojoan@mastodon.social oh, the good trad wife finds herself a *rich* husband...

@highvoltage @maxleibman ‘cause Linux is too mainstream now, it sold out to the man, man 😉

@isaackuo@spacey.space @LanceJZ@mastodon.social @Cadbury_Moose@wandering.shop @archaeohistories@ohai.social besides which, without the thrusters it just looks like a discarded cement mixer with a paint job. ;-) srsly people wanting accuracy, it just needs to look space-capsule-ish for the joke to work, and thrusters does the job!

@cstross@wandering.shop @MostlyHarmless@thecanadian.social turns out it really was the peak of our civilisation. (fuck.)

@JessTheUnstill@infosec.exchange # there are worse things i could dooooo

@ElleGray@mstdn.social @stephenwhq@mastodon.social sane and humane immigration policies would obviate the need; people could just take normal modes of transport. People only take the dangerous routes because the safe routes are blocked to appease racists.

@Strandjunker oh, mental collapse exploited in pursuance of federal crimes. his mind (never a place of honour to begin with) is gone; the only reason he's still in post is because those around him can still make use of him, so it's on them all. all of it.

@stux@mstdn.social how does he get down from the closet. duh, he walks. with style. because he's a cat.

@spocko@mastodon.online BBC news had her on for reactions after the launch (among others). Fraid I had the sound off… interviewer was too annoying.

@CauseOfBSOD@wetdry.world @TheZeldaZone@mastodon.social

@mre@mastodon.social got my best job through the ‘don’t know’ one. Had already said I was self taught, resumé has no CS in it (graduated in drama). So they asked me what polymorphism is. Said I don’t know then tried to work it out from scratch knowing English and the Java context… and was kinda right if you squint? Guy asking admitted he didn’t know either. Later, was told that got me the job. Not so much the answer but the initial ‘don’t know’. It was a bullshitter filter.

@mastodonmigration@mastodon.online @benroyce@mastodon.social wonder what the fix is there. maybe the non-follower mentionee having the ability to blow the followers-only lock off so people *can* see it?

@nixCraft@mastodon.social i love that it's the same chair. (or meant to be anyway: continuity error on the number of back pieces.) A saying I heard once and liked: “Remember, as you’re losing patience trying to explain how to use a computer to your parents, who taught you how to use a toilet.”

@anildash@me.dm (belatedly) ooh actually that's not a bug, it's in the commonmark spec, repeating common practice elsewhere, for emphasis, to deliberately *not* do it in intraword for underscore. (I haven't been looking all this time, just happened across it looking for something else)

@anildash@me.dm hm, wonder if you're using commonmark now. my editor-in-progress does and shows the same bug with underscore-emphases in the middle of words, but works when it's asterisks:

@Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt feel it necessary to add a late-period risc os scrollbar. carved. in. stone. 😀

@stavvers@masto.ai only flaw in that is that it's actually the very *first* thing they want to know. you have a baby, it's just "what is it?" and they don't like it if you say “human”

@valhalla @stux@mstdn.social also shade for livestock can seriously improve their quality of life

@eco-g Wait… Maidstone elected a Green councillor? *Maidstone*? (I grew up in Maidstone…)

@mre@mastodon.social (23 years later I still seem to find myself checking something in the java.lang.String javadoc page about once a week)

@oseiler@mastodon.nz nice bit of etmology…

@nikitonsky@mastodon.online insta-coding this into my current project's version class. i'll use this post as a credit url until you get a better one ;-)

@jack@social.jacklinke.com @nikitonsky@mastodon.online “Update if you enjoy my shame I guess”

@flux@beige.party @Lazarou@mastodon.social *Big* yawn!

@tubetime@mastodon.social nah, gimme Babbage-Lovelace engines humming away at nano-scale 😀

@crenquis@mstdn.io @lolennui@mstdn.social shapeshifting dragons have a problem with conservation of mass…

@thull@mastodon.social @fishcharlie@mastodon.social @gruber@mastodon.social @paul@tapbots.social @ivory@tapbots.social that’s what I assumed and have done.
