A bit more niche, but the Dutch labor party (PvdA) did exactly the same thing in the 90s and have now merged with the Greens (Groen Links) because they got punished for it hard and went from coalition partner to small opposition party. Not a fan of that, because it causes a lack of diversity of left wing parties, but it is what it is.

@luc@chaos.social Free seats are usually not a problem at the times I travel, so they're not a consideration for me. Walking towards the next stop makes me feel I have less of a chance to miss the bus. Which is not factually true, but there you go. And I have walked to my destination on occasion, so I might do that if I feel like it.

You're welcome.It's nasty business. There have been similar protest happening at various places, ending up with people throwing fireworks at the police and worse. The AIVD, the Dutch rough equivalent of the BfV, is investigating.

It looks like the new party (called Groen Links - PvdA for now) is fighting everybody right now. With the Greens being the dominant factor in the merger I am reasonably sure that will not change that much. I'm more worried the lack of a "true" labor option will turn people off from voting left wing. The last election results seem to point in that direction as they were not as good as hoped for.

Because it is a mechanism that strenghtens the position of people with money and no concern for those who do not by making them more money. So if you're one of them, you want to keep it.We're living in a capitalist society where more money means more power, so they have the power to make it important, even if it creates problems for others. Problems they themselves have money to deal with.

Interesting, this is new to me. Jobs in the Netherlands are almost always advertised as a negotiable range per x (usually 36) hours a week with the numbers of hours the job offers noted seperately. For example: job is 32 hours with a salary between 43.000 - 55.000 when working 36 hours.

@blp @tshirtman I don't think we have any particular feelings because we take it for granted. Calvé, a brand of peanutbutter, used to, and probably still does, advertise with the slogan "Calvé, who hasn't grown up with it". And it might not have been Calvé, but we all have had it at some point in our youth. If not as a bread topping, then as a sauce with fries, fried rice or saté. Colonizing Indonesia being the source of the two latter ones and propably the pervasiveness of the stuff in general.

It feels likeca remnant of times past. Specially because the people who I asked couldn't tell me if the building was in use to begin with.

@blp @chefraven This is the one I don't get. Hazelnuts are overrated and no amount of cocoa is going to cure that. To me it feels the Amercan fascination with Nutella stems from the fact they're just not used to better stuff. It's just so bland.
I don't like it much either, but if I have to go with something like this I'd go with Duo Penotti. Which is similar but is half cocoa and half vanilla flavored sections, for some much needed variation.
But that's just me though.

So I walk upto the busstop and the digital sign says the next bus is due in 15 minutes. I decide to walk to the next stop on the route. I make it two stops before the waiting time has dropped to 6 minutes. At which point I decide to not risk it, because I might miss this one and they only go every half hour. By doing this I have:

Back in the day, in a time when I was a young, and could maybe even have been considered innocent, boy, they were considered pop punk, along with the likes of the Offspring and Blink 182. Much to the dismay of old school 70/80's punks, who found them to be more pop than punk. If it helps: think the Ramones, but a tad slower on the tempo and a more poppy less raw sound.
