Casually deciphering posts in languages I don't know is enjoyable and is good mental exercise. I'm glad it doesn't automatically translate everything.
That having been said, sometimes I'd like to publish multilingual posts where I control the translation, the same way you can publish different subtitles for a video (or use automated translation). Same for alt text.
This may be the thing that motivates me to learn something about #ActivityPub

No worries, just a regional nuclear power piling up shipping containers like a zombie film to keep protestors out of the cities.

@thisislieven@c.im I'm always suspicious of government censorship. archive.today threatens the whole advertising media economy, but I'm pointing at Grupo PRISA (El País) because it is the centrist paper of record since the transition, but also because it carries a billion in debt and capital never relinquishes control. I could also point to Grupo Planeta (La Razón) but they have less pull with the gov.

@theklan @faraiwe @scottgal @pluralistic Yes. She attempted - and failed - to restore a piece of forgettable, forgotten religious decoration without asking for anything in return. She overcame the humiliation subsequently heaped upon her, swallowed her pride, and put her town on the cultural map, all while going through dementia. Cecilia Giménez Zueco was a hero, god damn it.

@The_Sun@solarcene.community @notjustbikes@social.notjustbikes.com negative prices for "overproductive" periods should be passed on to consumers, but somehow aren't. Markets are imperfect mechanisms, and they are really bad at correcting what is fundamentally a misallocation of resources.

@wdenton@cosocial.ca @oantolin@mathstodon.xyz Canada applies the same presumption of intention to immigrate as the US, and especially firmly to 16-25 YOs, and most especially to young men from poor nations. And so they are called upon to prove a negative, supplying evidence of a very, very highly paid job in their current country of residence, a spouse and children, an apartment or house... or just evidence of a large fortune. The interviews are humiliation rituals to which you carry all of your most sensitive documents.

@The_Sun@solarcene.community @notjustbikes@social.notjustbikes.com free is a good *start* but production is curtailed by operators as prices drop below zero. This means equipment that could otherwise be producing energy goes idle *because* it is centralized, and I can't store it in my battery or use it because it isn't available.
