@freedomtux@linuxrocks.online alright!
if one is in to kernel compilation for size or cruft: you need your old .config from the current running kernel, for instance. go to new kernel dir, make oldconfig; make menuconfig then you can go through and enable/disable kernel "features" as needed.
ubuntu's kernel was around 10-13MB, but they use initrd (or similar) for all the drivers.
If you know exactly what you need, you can skip everything but the 10-13MB kernel ;-)
I just pissed into the wind; contacted all of my US rep and senator; to wit:
"Hey! Google chevron stock, BP stock, Shell PLC stock, Exxon stock. I don't mind paying a bit more at the pump because we want to stop iran from having nukes, but someone needs to stand up and ask big oil WTF they're doing profiteering at our expense."
All oil companies with the exception of BP are at or around the highest stock prices, ever. BP is highest since 2013, but still. at the pump we're giving dividends?!
@freedomtux@linuxrocks.online oh and when you finish with make menuconfig, you note how many threads your machine has, say 16;
make -j15 && make modules_install
that second part is if you set anything in menuconfig to "M" instead of "in kernel" - the selections may be tri-state - compiled in, compiled as module, not compiled.
