Relief from the parasite tax is real.
In Canadian STEM you often have employees where maybe 80% of the work is routine but 20% requires real imaginative problem solving.
You would think the opportunity to get to work on the challenging stuff would excite people, especially the highly credentialed, Ph.D.'s and such, but almost all of them here come from non-White non-Western cultures where the credential was the goal itself and only intended to pave the way to a Western job and maybe citizenship. No way they want to work on something hard where they may fail and end up looking bad.
So you have "highly educated" people who work at a level far below where they should and are paid too much, and they will not reliably work at the higher level that can justify their pay. And they generally suck to have to deal with at a personal level.
AI today goes a long we to solving all three of the problems. The rote routine stuff is becoming AI capable as standard now. And AI is becoming more and more helpful in the research side of things. Not just literature review, but finding patterns and connections between topics and work in an hour that could easily take even an expert in the field months to do. And an AI is far easier to work with than an arrogant jeet or thieving chink.
