I always preferred to use LaTeX for my writing, but LibreOffice handled the mail attachments people threw at me. Today, I just tell people "I don't have MS Word, sorry" and that actually works now... BTW LibreOffice works fine on Linux. Probably even better than on Windows or Mac, as it is the platform of choice for the devs. FYI

Perhaps a more meaningful notion of contributing to society than just paying tax... but still wrong: a right is only a right if it is unconditional, otherwise it's a privilege. And note that universal suffrage in the west also largely came about because of military service: like after WWI, returning soldiers weren't willing any more to not have a say in the government that sent them out to fight and die. And same with the women on the home front. I would take the idea of tying suffrage to the tax scale more seriously if it would include eliminating the informal grip on democracy that the very wealthy already have through media control and campaign funding. And of course making them actually pay taxes appropriate to their wealth.
