mastodon 4.7.3I live with my husband in a purple house in BC, Canada I have a stripey, orange, fuzzy Tiger cloak—nothing bad is to happen while I'm wearing it; that's the law.
Beards, cats, plants, kitties, food, tigers, beards, astrophotographs, thoughtful words, beards, witty cleverness, grinworthy art, kitties, tigers, beards, the occasional interesting carburetor, and loosely related are all YES for me on here.
Politics and badness are (hard!) NO.

I work at a public library. People who want
to use Al seem to have no trouble doing so.
People who don't want to use Al have a
harder time. I crowdsourced and then
finalized this document "How to disable or
avoid intrusive Al" and then gave it a short
URL: notoai.org . Please pass along if it's
useful.

@ketan Ah! Yes! Good! You see, these kinds of fraud are fine because they're done by a machine made by wealthy people who say it's okeh. It's entirely congruent with theft of intellectual property: done at large scale by a machine, the makers of which wouldn't be able to grow wealthier if the theft weren't allowed so as to train for the fraud – ergo, it's fine.

@tinker@infosec.exchange "LOST TICKET WILL BE CHARGED FOR 24 HOURS - NO EXCEPTIONS" is a warning only to those planning to park for less than a whole day. To those intending to park for longer, it's a money-saving tip.
This scales all the way up.

Moratorium list additions:
• "uptick"
• "bombshell"
• "bad boy" (as a substitute for 'thing')
• "flagship"
• "players" (in re companies or market participants)
Previous list entries – "the white stuff", "thunderboomers", "product offensive", etc –remain subject to the moratorium.

@nlowell@zirk.us Thank you! I'm going to file this away. I love to cook, and I've done some successful bakery, but not a whole lot, and I've never started or kept a starter.
But it all sounds delish!

Did you know‽ The USB (now "USB-A") connector's design was inspired by the twist-tie, which doesn't open when twisted one way _or_ the other until unknowable things align along indescribable axes in inaccessable dimensions.

@rjblaskiewicz @aspragg I'm glad I finished being a student before all this, and at the same time I wish there'd been more of today's understanding of neurodiversity and the serious harms of what used to be(?) waved away as "Oh, well, kids are cruel; you'll live. It builds character".
The always-watching/always-scraping eye of Google adds a layer of meaning to this:
