When you have a lord who collects over half of your money every month in rent, with the rest going to utilities, and for most people that results in nothing left for the person who labored, and very possibly a lot of debt--that's just sneaky slavery. You can call it indentured servitude--but it's forced labor without pay. Particularly when it is illegal to be homeless, and the government is hunting homeless people.

Again, I want a social safety net. But I want the landlord problem fixed first. I want home ownership fixed first. I want low wages fixed first. I want arts funding fixed first. I want innovation in other fields besides business and technology which has proven to be innovations in slavery. Or we will never be free.

All I know is that this cannot stand, and we have to wake up to the fact that they are killing us, and it won't be fixed with the election.

When I look at this list, all I see is slavery. I'm among the people who "don't work" I'm a very hard working person who doesn't work. Because my job is theatre, which doesn't pay, unless it does, and is so sporadic, that I don't make enough to file taxes. But I feel it's necessary, and someone has to do this work, because it HAS a purpose. I wonder how many of the 40% not working are working for free. When I look at this, it's clear to me that we are already, and truly, all slaves.

what worries me is that it seems to be a capitulation to low wage, meaningless work. It makes what employers are doing okay. It makes a lack of arts funding okay. It makes teachers paying for their own supplies okay. It makes Wal-Mart--a meaningless job that only helps the Walton family--a perfectly fine outcome. The problem is that we often participate in democracy through our work, our businesses, our purpose.

I would love to conclude this thread with some call to action, but I honestly don't know what. with 40% of people not working at all, and over half of Americans not working full time...are we already on a work strike?

I know that people don't like the word "slavery" tossed around. But this is a mistake. Or we won't know what is happening to us. It reminds me of how rape victims often take years to realize they've been raped. For years they will tell themselves what happened to them was normal, their fault, not an attack. And then one day, they come to and realize, "Oh, shit. I am at the mercy of someone else's control."

"if you watched all the way to the end, you would know that the point is actually the opposite of the headline!" If there is one thing I'd like people in media to understand, it's that their headline matters more than the content of their work. And when you do things like put known facts up for debate in your headline, or say horrible things about a group of people in your headline, you are placing a billboard on the information superhighway that promotes misinformation and fascist ideas (1)

Like so many things, we need to reframe Super PAC's as a direct threat to national security. Forget the corporations. All a foreign government needs to contribute unlimited funds to a Super PAC and control who gets elected is a proxy in America to make the contribution. There are rules against foreign nationals contributing, but who needs them to contribute directly? A person who manages international wealth could easily be a proxy for enemies of the United States. For example.

When I was a kid, it was very much so hammered home not just that it was possible to get yourself a job that changes the world, but that you SHOULD. That it's a moral thing to work hard for the benefit of the country. Are we going to do that at Wal-Mart? I'm very wary of the push for socialism, and it's not at all because I don't believe in a safety net or hate sharing. And it's not because I think people who receive benefits are lazy. I'm going to the doctor today, courtesy of Medi-Cal. But

and I remember immediately thinking, "But...if we don't train more women, how will those real world opportunities ever stop favoring men?" Every man from my school who went to grad school auditions got multiple callbacks. The women were lucky to get one. And to get one, they had to fit a theatre archetype. I did this monologue from El Cid. In it, Chimene is seeking vengeance for her father's death, while trying (and failing) to be respectful to the king, and to fight through horror and sorrow:

Just got off the phone with the president of the board of directors of the theatre that is considering fiscal sponsorship. It went very well. In fact, I think they might give me a seat on the board, if I want it. If you want to make it in show business, move to a place that is filled with outlaws and pot smokers who are over 60 and need young (by comparison) hell-raisers to carry on the tradition.

Do you know what's sad, when you think about it? The evil tech lords, and the evil businesses who use their robots, did all of this, because they couldn't bear to hear what disappointments they were to their faces. For rich people, their entire lives are about preventing people from letting them know what people really think of them. They live in that much fear. They hate themselves that much. They're painfully aware of how loathesome they are, & all efforts are about keeping the truth at bay.

He was a tremendous ass kisser and piece of shit, but he knew Putin was America's enemy. And in his last public appearance, he was giddy to stick it to Russia. to the end of the world. They think it's go time--"Get all the profit you can right now, because that will determine who runs the world." That's what this group of fucking weirdos is into. They don't define what "private ownership" means. They define what hysterical paranoia and hoarding mean. Capitalism is a decentralized government and private ownership. That's what it means. That can look a lot of ways. But capitalists are kind of specifically not fascists, because fascism is centralized.

I'm fundraising the first $10K for my theatre company, Boneyard Theatre! All donations are tax deductible, and benefit TWO theatres--Boneyard, and our sponsor, Redwood Playhouse. I think it's going to be rad, and real boon to my community. You can read all about it here: https://boneyardtheatre.com/

I know when the American people will riot. I just hope it's not too late. Everyone is going to riot at the inevitable point that they bring back debtor's prison. Keep your eyes peeled for it. Because if you don't think that's coming, I don't know what magical universe you live in.

This is the original program for the Nazi's in 1920. It sounds exactly like what would happen if you combined the extreme right with the extreme left--when you put the group identities of people at the fore, and ask them to sacrifice the individual for the good of the group. You get Nazism. They will ALWAYS make it sound like it's for your own good/the good of all. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Socialist_Program

Trump has just made a list of people that he says are assets of Cuba, and are spreading communism. Amy Goodman is on the list. Eve Ensler is on the list. Even George Floyd--who is dead-is on the list. EVERY. ACCUSATION. IS. A. CONFESSION. Who is the foreign asset? It's Trump. Who is actively centralizing power, authority and economy? It's Trump. When he points and says, "These are foreign assets who are creating a communist state," he is confessing that HE is doing just that.

Trump posted that dumocrats are communists and that they are all coming to kill him and basically signalled to his base that they need to kill us before we kill them. In the KGB plan, demoralization happens for 15-20 years, destabilization happens for 15-20 years, and then you arrive at a crisis, which will either be civil war, or an invasion. He's setting up the civil war, precisely on time.

We need land and a home for every citizen as the foundation below the social safety net. Because a net is full of fucking holes by design, and there's nowhere to land when you fall through. Land is the foundation that will make the benefits possible.

I have now seen both The Devil Wears Prada 2, and The Odyssey, and I'm here to report: Anne Hathaway, who is beautiful, has a face full of the appropriate amount of wrinkles for her age, which, by the way, moves and emotes. I do not understand why she is part of the "immovable Botox face" conversation. I guess it's that one still from the Odyssey trailer, but I swear to you, she has very normal forehead wrinkles in that movie. People just spreading propaganda for funsies, I guess.

People are so stupid about what constitutes "dirty money." I was just thinking about a stripper I knew once, who organized her strip club to raise money for something at their kid's school. They didn't say, "We're the stripper's league for change" or anything. They just pooled their tips for a night to try and give it. But the people at the school knew she was a stripper, and woudn't take the "dirty money." But the stripper did not have an agenda. They were individuals giving their tips. (1

Feel free to contact Rob Bonta in addition to your own attorney general. The contact form is incredibly difficult to find on the website, so here it is. Just use a business address in California--maybe the address of a wal-mart or something. He could stop all of this if he were inclined. https://oag.ca.gov/contact/general-contact-form
