Rusty the Borgor King
mastodon 4.3.0-alpha.1I'm Rusty, a bratty little (well actually I'm very big) red corgi
I have a few character variants though so you may see my account bounce between them!
I periodically do programming, gaming, boating, and lots of Linux tinkering (btw I use Arch
) I'm also a big fan of #Transformation, #ABDL, #Paws, #PupPlay, and other silly nonsense.
I maayyy be the Boss Baby behind the curtain, but don't tell anybody.
⚠️NSFW Ahead 🔞 Do not follow if you are a minor or would prefer not to see NSFW (with a CW, of course). There will be plenty of NSFW on this account.

I'm still pretty upset that furries largely chose Bluesky over Fedi, and Bluesky's decision to start haphazardly banning babyfurs is the main reason why. :drgn_thinking: Bluesky doesn't understand the intricacies of furries to moderate them, especially our various subcultures. The benefit of Mastodon et al. is that the servers are managed by people from your subculture.
A lot of my reservations about Bluesky being a Twitter 2.0 were hand-waved away because ATProto (the protocol Bluesky is built on) is federated like ActivityPub (the protocol the Fediverse/Mastodon is built on). ATProto is federated, yes, but it's not a protocol that promotes community-building like ActivityPub does. ATProto is a workbench for building out large monolithic social networks, instead of the tapestry of communities that make up the Fediverse. ATProto seems to focus on individual data sovereignty, while the Fediverse is focused on community sovereignty. Unfortunately, yes, that makes the Fediverse a little harder to use than ATProto AppViews, but ultimately I think it's worth it.
I dunno. I've rambled about this kind of thing a lot of times in the past, sorry I keep bringing it up. :soft_shrug: Just something I enjoy thinking about.

I'm really leery of the new blocklist sharing feature being proposed as part of Masotdon's Sovereign Tech Agency funding. While I'm excited Mastodon is receiving an STF grant, blocklist abuse has been a recurring issue and I'm not eager to see it codified in the admin interface.
For those that weren't here a few years back, Mastodon has a pretty ugly history with blocklists. They've been repeatedly used to block sex positivity, kink, and LGBTQ+ content. While I agree there are a lot of really bad servers on the Fediverse, I'm nervous that blocklist sharing will lead to the same kinds of censorship we saw a few years back. Plus, and no shade to the people who use it, but the Fediblock hashtag has a lot of posts from people who operate on little to no proof of their claims, or who just want to abuse it.
To be totally honest though, my hangup with blocklists comes from the fact that CubHub still has to deal with being suspended by a lot of servers from a bad blocklist. We were wrongfully flagged because someone didn't bother to check our About page that clearly states we do not allow porn of under-age characters, because stupid people think "cub" automatically means cub porn. :blobfoxdisapprove: It doesn't.
So yeah, I dunno. The other proposals look interesting, and, while I've never been one to think we really need E2EE on private messages and who thought it'd just introduce a lot of friction for users, I'm not opposed to it if they can get the UX of it working well.
Whoever engineered the "Sign In With Google" pop-up that appears incessantly across the Internet deserves to be thrown into the sea. :neodog_what: Every ad blocker should block it by default.
I put a contact sensor on the door to the garage that turns on the light when you open it, and it brings me infinite joy when @kataze@ice-lolly.social opens it and goes, "I like that it's a fridge :3"
I just tossed a developer some GitHub sponsor money and they added a bunch of feature requests I asked for and I feel kinda awkward about it :wlfThink: I don't want to come across, like, "hey you did this thing for me so here's your payment," but also I want them to know I appreciate it. :xenia_bottom:
Am I overthinking?
Anyone got any theories on where the final episode is headed? :wolf_peek:
I personally buy into the SOMA theory for the show. I think all the characters are just virtual copies made by the VR headset, so they're never going to be able to get out. It tracks with the fact that there's a "brainscans" folder where the humans are stored in .dat files, it makes sense with Scratch having had a brain tumor since he'd want to scan himself to live forever, and the way Kinger reacted to Abel by saying it doesn't make sense that they could get out, all points to them being virtual copies.
It'd be a pretty dark ending but honestly that fits with the show.
That said, I'm curious what other theories people have :soft_reach:

Flatpak really ought to have a fuzzy search built into the flatpak run command as an argument
It'd go a long way into making the reverse-DNS (and case sensitive for some reason??) names more palatable. As it is I have alias flatfind='flatpak list --app | fzf -q' sitting in my zshrc just to be able to find any of em.
"Launching flatpaks from a command line isn't a core consideration." Well it should be, it's fuckin' Linux, mate.
Maybe I'll give Fuzzpak a go or something.
Hey, does anyone know the rules for Tri-Peaks? I'm trying to learn on the new Solitaire for GNOME and I thought aces could take either a 2 or a King, but it's not letting me do it. Is it a bug or am I just misunderstanding the rules?
alright chat, how are we keeping our bashrc/zshrc's synced between devices? :wolf_peek:
Would I go to, like, Super Hell if I torrented Veggietales? :blobfoxthinkgoogly:
