Since there has been a huge burst of new activity out there, and everyone has been doing #introductions I guess I should (re)do a hashtag-laden #introduction of my own.
I am a mid-century modern weirdo from #YYC aka #Calgary #Alberta #Canada that runs https://coales.co Hometown/Mastodon site out of the garage in his back yard (the servers are literally bolted to the ceiling in there...told you I was weird)
Like a lot of people here I am a computer nerd who codes a lot of #Python and tinker with #microcontrollers and #OpenHardware and uses #Linux mostly. Professionally I do #IndustrialAutomation #SCADA stuff.
That said I often (sometimes mostly) post random and sometimes weird stuff. Occasionally political but put it behind content warnings. I am generally #AntiAuthoritarian and I dunno maybe #mutualist if I had to label it.
Also like weird #WatchParties like #Monsterdon and #WeAreNameless, and cute fuzzy animals (not like THAT jeez) and #ShitPosting and I'm occasionally a necromancer of old #Memes

The beginning of the month, when every junk producer's token limit resets, and we get a whole new wave of junk. Turning off PRs helped a lot, but they just started opening "test issue, checking if my API access is broken", or commenting or emailing their patches instead. I really wish I knew how to escape this without turning off community interaction entirely. #python #flask #opensource
Quoting
I've turned off pull requests from non-members for Flask, Werkzeug, Jinja, and Click this week, and have enjoyed not waking up to a fresh wave of AI junk every morning. I think I'm going to update our contributing guide to say "introduce yourself and how you use the library in chat first if you want to contribute pull requests". Sad that we had to go here, but aside from conference sprints we weren't really getting outside contribution anyway (which is also sad, but that's been the case a lot longer than AI has been around). #python #flask #opensource

Moral: Alles, was von außen kommt zuerst normalisieren.
unicodedata.normalize("NFC", s)

#Python in a nutshell:
- Let's use this new fancy #TOML thing for everything, it's so cool!
- Everyone starts depending on third-party TOML libraries.
- TOML library is finally added to the standard library, so people are moving to conditionally using it.
- As old versions of Python become irrelevant, people are finally dropping fallbacks to the third-party library.
- TOML 1.1 is introduced, and everyone has to start using a third-party library again… (at least until Python 3.15)
That's in case anyone is wondering why dev-python/tomli is suddenly getting installed on #Gentoo systems again.
