$451/$500!
management wont do repairs until our friends place is clean, and she doesnt qualify for free housekeeping services yet which is frustrating.
no pressure to donate, times are hard for everyone. boosts are greatly appreciated :blobcat_inlove:
re disabled sighted ppl and alt text:
i wait until i have the energy to add alt text. i put the post together, then i publish it. if i dont have the energy to add alt text, i dont post it.
i can wait until my abilities allow me to post; blind ppl dont get to wait until theyre sighted to see what im posting

@catmisgivings@stranger.social tbh its the kind of job that involves a LOT of standing around so i think management would be pretty tolerant lol

the emergency blankets are once again worth far more than what we paid. they break easily cause they arent designed for long-term use, but doubling em up (or tripling, or quadrupling) has brought the indoor temperature down by A LOT.
i am filled with a deep and terrible whimsy.

its the first heatwave of the year here in the #pnw – central ac is not customary so everyone is on their own. historically weve had warm summers but obv that is changing.
the roommate in charge of putting up emergency blankets in the rest of the apt is unsure if she should do the south-facing glass sliding door to the balcony. im gonna let her and her partner suffer until they figure it out. i filled the bathtub with cold water that can evaporate as it warms up, i supplied the blankets. my job is done

still, im probably the most likely carrier, even with vaccination, hand hygiene, and masking.
the other roommate idk about because our paths dont really cross
stay tuned for...something ig :D
an extremely vancouver thing
a pelican appeared at science world (one of the big tourist attractions) and a guy shot a video going "hey theres a pelican here at science world"
then he jabbed his thumb behind him and said offhandedly "there are two groups here, one is people who are here for the pelican and then theres a pro-palestine protest"
and the comments are "ah yes. the pelican supports a free palestine"

collapsed in the apt monday morning. paramedics checked me out, i was recovering and said i was probably dehydrated and could handle it. they had a discussion with me about it
day went on, kept hydrating and cooling, thought i was getting better. but by nighttime i was hot and not sweating

in some cases its difficult to say anything with certainty BUT its probly safe to assume a lot of sick patients had been through the clinic that day. our np herself was under the weather
2 days prior id spent 4 hours in emergency where, again, there are a lot of sick ppl and not a lot of respirators

"maddox that sounds kinda passive-aggressive" yea it is but consider that
1) we taped up emergency blankets everywhere the past two summers and the roommates noted that it helped;
2) the roommates, while pleasant, sometimes lose their sense of logic and do things like unscrew the lightbulb from inside the fridge because the lightbulb might heat up and spoil the food; prepare, serve and consume rotting food; dont allow food to be stored in the freezer to be taken out to organics later, because theres a risk of disease transmission; dont mask when infectious; etc
so i cant really waste more energy teaching them basic stuff, i think they kinda gotta solve this problem on their own :blobcat_neutral:

i had masked for a few days after hospitalization, i figured symptoms had resolved, maybe not. ears have started hurting again
gonna do an actual pcr covid test this time cause nope

so we did a course in contact tracing that was offered by canadas national public health agency
i went to our bank account first to look at what we spent and where. spent money at blenz on friday. ok.
go to messaging app and search the messages i exchanged with one of my partners
i had made a trip to the clinic for blood test and other assessments.
i remember being there for a fucking while and the clinic doesnt exactly have windows
the next boopties...have been released

boosts appreciated: a young organizer is looking for help in setting up a gofundme or other fundraiser for his familys ngo (focused on food security). his internet access is limited and hes new to fundraising, but if anyone is up for connecting with him via email, that would be v cool
you can find the point-of-contact email address at https://tally.so/r/LZqz92
looking forward to getting the capsules cause i cant do straight oils anymore. its like shooting unsalted liquified butter a dozen times a day
#ListeningTo "broken glass" from misterwives' fourth album, nosebleeds (2024). reminds me of the late 2000s, especially the milder bops associated with the scene aesthetic
if the band name doesnt ring a bell, put on "reflections" from 2014 and you will have The Flashbacks. if you didnt hear that single it was because you hadnt been born yet.

so the chance that i brought something home is pretty moderate
roommate is not vaccinated against covid, works at a pretty hygienic lab each night. like us, they mask while in public, but are using public transit twice a day which is not so much an aerosol risk as a fomite risk imo?
if youve been following me for more than a month youll know how poor their hygiene is at home

its weird for us not to sweat and i was getting confused and mouth was dry, so partner told me what to do and i got to the er. i was amazed that staff and patients were not collapsing on the floor because to me it was like 30°c/86°f in there. at 10:30 at night.
vitals were normal but a triage nurse said i was warm to the touch. i dont think anyone took my temperature the entire visit

i think the wait was 4 hours. i did eventually start cooling down around 1am or 2am.
the dr checked me out and said it sounded like i was coming down with something, which floored me. but she said my urine and blood were normal (yay) so i was discharged and slept all day and like. as soon as i woke up at 2pm, the sinusitis started
