Hopefully it will be open source, so you can build it yourself. It seems to be related to gnomeOS… In the mean time, if you have any other feedback, find us in #gnome-os:gnome.org on Matrix, or leave a comment.

@ekes@drupal.community I think this is more in the context of GUI, like #Gnome 3 specifically... press super key, start typing calc, press enter too quickly and you have a spreadsheet instead of a calculator. 😂

Mosaic WM's smart resize just got a full rewrite. Instead of shrinking windows step by step and waiting for Mutter to catch up each time, it now uses get_min_size()/get_max_size() from Mutter 50 to binary search the optimal scale factor upfront (layout simulations fully synchronous). All polling machinery are gone (-770 lines) _Everything that I pray praise the Lord_ 🎶🎶. #GNOME

⚠️ Important notice for Mosaic WM testers: Starting from commit b96f204, #Mutter 50+ is required. The smart resize system was rewritten as mentioned in the toot above. If you're on an older version, stick to the previous commit. This isn't just a preference, the extension won't work properly without these APIs. #GNOME

I implemented "mid-flight" behavior for animations so they aren't canceled when another movement animation starts, instead, the new animation begins from the object's current position during the animation. #GNOME

Out of a fear of performance, I'd locked the mosaic into one "optimal" layout per window set. Rigid: you could swap windows but never change the arrangement. The cost isn't enumerating them, it's doing it naively. Split shape from ordering: a lazy generator yields every composition, gated only by whether it fits. Now it's all reachable, purely additive. Drag reflows live, and Super+Alt+arrows retargets mid-flight. It still auto-tiles, it just no longer decides for you. #GNOME

MosaicWM now reads the same MRU list alt-tab does. Miniaturizes whatever you haven't touched in the longest, restores whatever you used last. Focusing a window already protects it. And if the most recent one doesn't fit when space frees up, it tries the next ones instead of giving up. #GNOME

The GNOME 51 branch is now merged. I've also been working on adaptive mini windows to improve screen real estate and content visibility, now available for testing on main! #GNOME #Linux #OpenSource #mosaicWM

I have 3 apps with support for spellcheck on my new install of Linux with Gnome: Zen (Firefox), Gnome Text Editor and LibreOffice. They have three different amounts of dictionaries I can choose from: 19, 0 and 1. Because of this I have to assume that they all download their own dictionaries. If I add a new word to the dictionary in one app it will not work in any other app. This is annoying! Would love to see work on shared dictionaries across all apps! #firefox #gnome #LibreOffice #linux
