"We are thankful for these and all the good things of life. We recognize that they are a part of our common heritage and come to us through the efforts of our brothers and sisters the world over. What we desire for ourselves, we wish for all. To this end, may we take our share in the world's work and the world's struggles. "- J. S. Woodsworth.

Freeze tomato sauce, or freeze whole tomatoes. A friend has a pressure canner and will can the sauce, stewed tomatoes, etc for my pantry but most of the harvest is frozen.

Decomposing the carbon in the wood shavings borrows nitrogen, which can be replaced with fish or similar fertilizer.

Odds are that it's been grafted onto a hardy root. There may be a swelling in the stem above the soil. Since roses' names are registered, you can look up whether it's own-root. You have a year to train the root ball. No worries.

It's a decorative plant similar to sunflower. It might have industrial cordage potential but I haven't read of any studies. No food value that I know of.

While I'm privately sceptical of NZ 'winter', if the wood is punky then it's good for the base layer.

I watered one garden site at dawn and another, unscheduled, at 9. I finished at 10.
I don't know why my melting point was 21C today. Probably 'struck doon by the actinic rays of the sun.'

I remember snailmailing you either a postal money order or a paper bank draught (I forget which) the last time I ordered from you. Aside from Western Union, is there a way of becoming a Canadian sponsor? My, then, elderly mother attempted to smuggle two oranges into Michigan for lunch, was caught, fined, and labeled as a bioterrorist. I was her driver and so am a known accomplice. Hand delivery of cash, that side the border, is unlikely.

It would be useful if there were an .html, a browser could render it into a readably large font; translate the French, if desired.

I've retired to a walkable town of 10,000 a one-hour bus ride from the GTA GO/TTC network. I find I'm content, though visiting walkable cities in Europe is on my list.

If this is an own-root rose then rooting cuttings would be the way. Else, immediately trench around the plant to prune the roots and so encourage new feeder roots in the ball to be moved - keep moist.

@greenyouthmovement@masto.nu @potterybyosa@mastodon.social we are harvesting from the summer garden - cucumber, tomato, beans, garlic, potatoes, celeriac, fennel, herbs, etc; the perennials herbs have been transfered to terracotta pots for overwintering; and are planting autumn plants that can survive light frost - mostly leafy salad greens.
