"When one neurologist told me I was “just depressed and anxious,” I finally said, “We’re going to stop the gaslighting right now.”" Kelly Sealey, a Black woman and advocate with Long COVID, suggests a straightforward way to communicate with gaslighting doctors about post-acute infectious sequelae. https://thesicktimes.org/2026/08/28/were-going-to-stop-the-gaslighting-right-now-how-im-fighting-back-as-a-black-woman-with-long-covid/ #MEcfs #LongCOVID #InvisibleIllness #COVID19 #COVIDIsNotOver #Disability #Gaslighting #Medicine

Despite prior experience working in public health, I’ve faced challenges getting care for Long COVID and chronic seizures.

Would someone like to build a single-fader MIDI controller for me, a bedbound composer? Preferably someone within Europe (shipping to Austria). I would like to pay cash money for something lightweight enough that I can use double-sided velcro-tape to attach it to my custom-made bed-desk (which sits upright at about 60-70 degrees). Must be: small and light Mac-compatible pre-programmed for CC#1 USB-C or Bluetooth Fader please, not a knob or wheel #Music #StudioEquipment #DAW #Accessibility #Recording #DIY #DIYtech #Musicians #Composer

Right, it’s medical testing season again (because numbers are low here, so it’s safe-ish for me to access health care.)

Does anyone have experience replacing the straps on a FloMask to make it MRI and xray safe? Tips/tricks? Materials?

Any advice for changing from a wet mask to a fresh one when spending a long day in a health care facility -- assuming you are not able to get outside or open a window?

Here's that yearly thread for our collective tips for people with Dysautonomia, (peri)menopause, chronic illness in heatwaves.
Here are my tips: A few years ago someone here suggested getting a dog cooling mat from a pet store. I did, and it's amazing. They contain a gel that instantly cools your body when you lie on it. Like falling into a cool bath. Perfect for hot flashes in the night during the winter too.

Friends, I wonder if you might be able to help this chestnut sapling. I put a chestnut in the fridge over the winter, and planted it in a pot on my balcony February. The first week of April, it showed a shoot above the ground. It was growing fast, so we gave it a much bigger pot (about 40 cm deep) with fresh soil in May. It has received good organic compost tea every 3 weeks or so. About a month ago, it suddenly went from a very healthy sapling to having these yellow spots on the leaves. We sprayed it thoroughly with safer's soap, but the spots have continued to grow. We wondered if it was getting too much sun, so we moved it to partial/dappled shade, no change. We've tried watering it less, and also watering it more, no change. The problem started just before the really bad heat wave here in Austria, so I don’t think it’s connected to the heat, but I could be wrong. Any tips for keeping it alive? #trees #botany #garden #gardening #fungus #insects
