Funny, if they'd just given out a "download for free" coupon code, or let you delete it with a click, it probably would've been widely seen as positive.
Just goes to show how a lack of control in the situation can feel like an abusive user experience. But I'm sure they learned their lesson…

New US tariffs go into effect today for Canadian products but they're *lifting* tariffs off certain products like salt, sugar, concrete…
Hey Cdn Gov, they're *telling us* what their sensitive items/sectors are!
We just need to slap punitive export tariffs on those things to increase the pain on the US gov until they see sense on the trade front.

Breaking a hole in a concrete floor today.
Started out with masonry bits in a hammer drill and a diamond saw blade on a grinder, but have since relented and got a demolition hammer (aka jack hammer).
I've done this a few times before and the one I did a few years back with drilled holes and a sledgehammer was way more effort than I want to expend this time.

@zazzoo@mstdn.ca yes, garage. My hole location choice seems to have worked out well, intersecting with the drainage tile, so the sump pump should be well supplied.
Whew, demo hammer work is dirty and tiresome. Lots of breaks.

@heidilifeldman@mastodon.social lots of trade hurdles to resolve first, but it would be funny to see us closer to the EU than the UK is. 😂

@johnefrancis@cosocial.ca @zazzoo@mstdn.ca power uses a dedicated receptacle nearby (eventually a battery backup too) and drain goes through the wall, under driveway pavers out to the ditch.

@TrueNorthSpice@mastodon.world @mariellequinton@ottawa.place I like glass better myself too, but I think beverage manufacturers like the economics of light-weight cans for reduced shipping costs and no post-consumer responsibilities for empty container handling.

@zazzoo@mstdn.ca @johnefrancis@cosocial.ca nothing too bad but enough water ingress to make me worry about more in future, and how to get rid of it if it does.

@mariellequinton@ottawa.place I've been a bit frustrated with Enviro Can's radar in recent weeks, as it often seems to be down as a storm approaches. Hasn't been handling traffic load very well it seems.

Checking some online inflation calculators, it suggests the $10k payoff in 1959 would be about $53k today.
Hmmm, seems a little low.

It's a #Monsterdon movie night. I'm a little under the weather, but might give it a watch.
A 1970 adaptation of an HP Lovecraft story? Sounds tentacular!

I must say that one of the elements of #Monsterdon I enjoy is the pre-showtime chatter! 😊
I used to enjoy the post-watch comments and summaries a lot too… but they've become a casualty of the double bill, which immediately switches attention to the next movie.
I usually don't watch the second pic (too late for me) but it'd be nice if the hashtag changed so that post-watch comments worked again. Probably impractical to pull that off now.

What is this "laser" you speak of?
Ha - 1968 it was still a new concept. Their science definitions are pretty good so far.

Well, the feature tonight on Monsterdon was a time travel flick, which is one of my favourite sci-fi genres, but this one really earned its IMDB rating of 3.7/10. 😂
Totally abandoned logic in the last quarter, contrived a long drawn-out footage-replay montage, then abruptly ended, just dropping any remaining thread of a plot.
But the terrible movies are what makes #Monsterdon fun.

I see #Monsterdon tonight is "Night of the Comet" (1984) which I recall seeing just in the last few years, so I'll prob skip it this week.
It wasn't too bad, actually. Low budget and rather hokey 1980s.

That's some classic architecture. I recognized Wright's 'textile block' structures.
Okay, drifting off the spooky movie topic here.
